That's what happens when a country plays in a Final when it shouldn't. Italy wasn't that good. Got past England without scoring then watched Germany self destruct.

Who would've given Spain a good game, honestly?

The German D would be ripped to shreds by their attack.

Can control the middle, you can't beat Spain. But didn't expect 4 - 0.

I think saves where the goalies are flying through the air to perry the shot over the crossbar thats been shot like a rocket is a harder save.

Solo's save is incredible. Speaking as a keeper, that type of recovery is remarkable and much more difficult to do than a hard high shot that you dive for. Give me 100 clean, hard and high shots any day and I'll save most of them - it's part of what goalies drill every day in practices and frankly they aren't hard to save unless they're perfectly placed. You don't practice for the type of save that Solo made. Amazing reaction and beautiful technique. The weight transfer that she pulls off there is just sick. She's thinking "hard step and dive to the right" which requires your weight to swing from left foot to the outside of the right foot, and in an instant to be able to push off the edge of her left foot like that... Amazing. Most keepers take the same first step to the right, and then just stare at the ball as it goes in the empty net in that situation because it's a hopeless situation simply based on the physics of weight transfer and the way the body is supposed to work. People talk about deflections being very hard to save in hockey but in soccer they are much, much worse.

Not to be that guy, but my favorite games during the tournament were the games in the earlier rounds.

You're actually wrong, so while you may have a "great mind", it doesn't pertain to goaltending in soccer. Solo's save is far more impressive to people who actually understand goaltending than a run of the mill "high and hard" diving save. Go to any premier 17 or older team, D1 or D2 college, or semi-pro team and you'll find that competent goalies can make those diving saves a hell of a lot easier than the type of save that Solo had to make. To the fan who doesn't actually play the position, flying through the air to make a save looks amazing but in actuality it's pretty easy when you know what you're doing from a technical standpoint.

It was a great save, not only did she stop the intial deflection after going the wrong way because of the initial shot but she had to muscle the ball out of the net when someone else tried to put in the rebound.

I'm not taking anything away from the save, its just not one of those save to me that makes me go oooo. Just an opinion.

I was just taking exception to "I think saves where the goalies are flying through the air to perry the shot over the crossbar thats been shot like a rocket is a harder save". Your reaction is obviously your own preference but speaking as an experienced keeper, the Solo save is the harder one to make.

Reading my post though, I didn't mean to come off sounding like an ass, so I apologize.

I've never even attempted to play goalie in soccer and it just seems logical that that kind of reaction play would be harder to make. Not to mention her entire momentum is going one way, then on a DIME she completely goes the other direction. I think it's phenomenal.

Italy deserved to be in the Final just as much as Spain deserved to win yesterday.

Squadra just couldn`t catch a break. I don`t remember a Final like that.

I hate Busquets. He leeches off the talent of that midfield.

True, but he also got talent himself. If not, he wouldn't be on that midfield.

Solid passing and positional play, typical Barcelona product. There are dozens of better tacklers at his (DM, CM) position.

De Rossi or Parker give me a *****. Busquets can go **** himself. I loathe divers.

Oh how I wish that Manchester United was able to hang onto Gerard Pique. Such a composed, talented defender... In time he could be as good as a prime Rio Ferdinand, although he'll have to continue improving his foresight and root out the minor issue he has with ballwatching when attacks come from the wings.

He wanted to play and he wanted to be back home in Spain. I`m also not sure if EPL would be a good fit for him. No regrets.

I love how everyone is saying Italy shouldn't have been in the Final.

It's not their fault Germany bent over for them...
