I think it's safe to say that Whitney won't be scoring nearly 80 points next season. We'll need atleast 50-60 out of him though to justify that contract.
PA Parenteau could very well end up like Ville Leino.

Leino was a guy who was playing ridiculously sheltered minutes in Philly (thanks to the Flyers' forward depth) who was then moved into a situation where he was expected to be a first line forward. Parenteau may have had a great linemate boosting his production a bit, but there's no indication that he can't play 1st line minutes. And Colorado has some decent forwards of their own.

I see him playing pretty well with Duchene or maybe Jones. I don't think they play on the same line but I'm not sure. I think he'll fit in just fine there. I don't see the need for Parenteau with Whitney personally, I think that slot has been filled.

Whitney has consistently produced. Parenteau seems like a total boom or bust signing. He was a very late bloomer. Is that because he figured it out or because the situation made him look good?

I want to see one more signing before going to zzz soon, please. I'd expect Dallas to make 1-2 more UFA signings this week.

His $24M demand in bonuses over 2 years is incredibly ridiculous.

about Whitney not scoring 77 points again? If you look at his historical production he's fluctuated between 50 points on the low end up to 80 in a great season. I think it's fair to place his expected scoring the next couple of seasons at the low end of that range what with his age.

He needs to be used properly. Use him against a team's secondary defensive pairing and give him lots of PP time and he should do well. Expecting another 77 pt season is somewhat unrealistic.

sounds like Ryan Suter is off to Detroit. This should really shake the market up.
