He'd get that in Dallas, probably beside Benn.

So what happens if Faksa plays his way onto the team?

Les Jackson talked about giving Faksa 2-3 years to develop... I don't think that's even on their radar.

Claude Giroux went from 76 points to 93 points with Jagr on his line last season ... could be a huge get for Benn

He'd almost certainly get at least a game or two to play with him. I think he can handle it, but not for a full season.

Jagr - Faksa - Vincour

I think if Faksa comes into camp and tears it up and looks comfortable they would absolutely give him the first 9 regular season games to see what he's got. He's definetly got the size to be able to come in right away.

The last two Calder winners were BOTH Kitchener Rangers ... and both played right away.

Jagr would get top six minutes. He'd also be a great vet for the kids and a more than decent stop gap

Whitney-Benn-Jagr
Eriksson-Roy-Ryder

Still need some 3rd line help but man. Would still love to take a chance on Mueller as a 3rd line center.

Exactly what I was thinking. Mueller as the 3rd line winger would just make it that much better.

Mueller - Eakin - Vincour
Morrow - Fiddler - Wandell/Sceviour
Garbutt/Nystrom

I'd rather trade Morrow than put a $4.1M player on line 4. Hopefully he is good enough for line 3 duties, but I won't be surprised if he did play on line 2.

I agree ... Mueller is risky as hell (injuries), but tremendous reward if it pays off (age/skill/potential) ... the fact remains ... Morrow just doesn't fit into this roster anymore and paying someone $4.1 million to play third OR fourth line minutes is silly, even if we are needing to get to the cap floor.

Get Jagr, get Mueller and get a top 4 defenseman.

Would we all agree that Morrow, Robidas, Wandell and Fistric are all tradable assets at this point?

I agree but I doubt the organization feels Robidas is tradable at this point.

I haven't seen a report where Doan wants 5 years, but I'm not saying he's not asking for that either. 5 years seems pretty unlikely from any team in the league IMO, but let's say he's asking for 5 but willing to go only 4. That's a long time, but does it hurt Dallas?

In this hypothetical situation let's go to the best/worst case scenario … you're signing both Jagr and Doan.

Next year, that keeps Fraser and Sceviour in the AHL almost certainly, and that's far from a bad thing IMO in Fraser's case.

Jagr, Ryder, Morrow and Nystrom come off the books for sure. While Roy also comes off the books lets just say in this hypothetical he's extended. Now you have a Top 6 spot and two Bottom 6 spots open for forwards. Let's just say those guys are going to be Fraser, Glennie, Chiasson, and Sceviour. That leaves The Smith's in the AHL another year, and you have Stransky, Ritchie, and probably one of McKenzie or Winkler going pro.

The following season Whitney and Fiddler move on. The Smith's can now go to he NHL. The guys going pro the last season are good to spend probably at least another two years in the AHL, and Faksa, Winther, Gemel Smtih, and Troock go pro this year.

Really, a 4 year deal, IMO, to Doan blocks no one. He probably could become the captain for 3 years. There's no reason to rush Benn. He's got enough pressure with the team selling him as the franchise player.

I'd be just fine with a 4 year deal for $20 million ($7, $5, $5, $3).

If we get Doan or Jagr, I'm cool with either one.

Haven't had an offseason this exciting for us, in a while!

Has Joe said anything on the Suter front? Gotta think he's barking up that tree as well, as I don't think Suter's shut the door yet on Dallas the way Parise publicly did.

Totally unexpected for Jagr to consider us. I'd love it. Especially on a 1 year deal..

Doan would be ok too, but 4-5 years.. meh... I'm definitely not as interested in that.

I am sure though, that I'd only want one or the other. Not both.

I took that quote as him wanting 5 years from phoenix if they stayed not him wanting 5 years from someone else

But $7M for year 1?? I'd rather give him $4.5/year for 4 years....no front-loading.

hmm not sure where Shane Doan would fit on this team.. maybe something like

Eriksson - Benn - Ryder
Doan - Roy - Whitney

and then there's Jagr to consider? and Morrow? We're running out of spots to put these guys haha.

Still, the defense should be first priority to upgrade. I like that Niewuendyk seems to be attempting to move Morrow out of the top 6 but we need to find someone to play on the shut down pairing with Robidas before we start getting to pie in the sky dream scenarios on the forward lines.

I agree with you. I hope it's either Doan or Jagr, and not both, and that acquisition be the end of additions on the forward lines this off-season and the focus is shifted to defense. We still need to re-sign Benn anyway.

Well this is officially awesome. I don't care what he wants to make, these next wo seasons will be for development and fun. Whatever happens along the way is just extra for me. Pay Jagr whatever the hell he wants. I'll buy that Jersey.
