yeah maybe but they have shown today that they are all-in so I doubt they let the best man they have walk...especially on the most important position of the team

Glad to see that both Parise and Suter went to Minnesota. Now they should finally be winning regularly.

I don't think they will trade off Backström. They'll find a way to keep all 3. Harding is not yet ready to be the only option.

Lol little quick for that. Still plenty of question marks on this team. I think the Hawks will be the biggest competition this year. They were leading the conference in January I believe. So, they can still win plenty of games with their offense. Their goaltending was horrible last year. If Crawford improves even slightly they will have a good shot at the division. The Central just got a lot weaker though. Nashville loses Radulov(not really a big part of their regular season) and Suter(huge part) and Detroit loses a living legend. I'm very excited, but I still fully expect to see 4 teams in the playoffs out of the central.

this just means Webers contract next year will be in the 13-15 yr range at 8-9 million and that Detriot prolly gets him...this makes me sick

way too early, way too much question marks

Chicago has a great team, Nashville has Rinne and Detroit is Detroit...they always find a way to win hockey games
Petro get concussed (knock on wood) at the beginning of the season and you`ll have to take a very new look at the central-scenario

The Blues got better (healthy Perron and AMac plus added the Tank), Detroit and Nashville got worse. The Hawks don't scare me over an 82 game season. Also, our young core is another year older and gained major experience last year. Their confidence has to be extremely high. Health is the only thing that can stop the Blues from atleast the WCF.

Players still get to choose where they play. Detroit will certainly be in on him next year, but Nashville should have the money to resign him if he wants to stay. Also, Pittsburgh cleared out a ton of cap space and really didn't sign anyone of note(yet). They will have the money next year too more than likely. Anaheim will probably like to add to their back end. Almost every team in the league will have interest, he still gets to choose. I'd rather him sign in Detroit than Chicago personally. Chicago's offense is unreal. Their D and goaltending are awful. Detroit's offense still revolves around Datsyuk and Z, who are great players but getting older. They don't have any stud prospects honestly. Jurco, Nyquist, and Tatar are good players, and they just drafted Martin Frk but none of them jump out as future stars. Although, the Blues proved last year you can be a great team without a star. I'm sure Detroit will continue to be great, because they always draft well. Chicago has the forwards to win the Cup and their D is great at times also. Keith, Seabrook, and add Weber would be a deadly team. Probably in cap hell though.

Weber will likely be traded, and to a team that will sign him to a lifetime deal. I don't think that the Wings have the assets to pull that deal off.

Suter to Minny? Nashville a weaker team next year as a result? Detroit a weaker team as well because they couldn't land him?

Can't think of a lot of alternative outcomes that would make me happier.

What are the opinions on the 13 year, $98m deals?

I'll say I'd want neither at that price, but I could live with Suter on that kind of contract. Parise though, there is a chance that in 5 or 6 years that could look pretty ugly.

Came in here to post this.

Finally...decades of losing to the Red Wings looks to be coming to an end.

Are the tables finally turning in our favor?

The Blues were better than the Wings last year. It's time to start clown stomping their ***** on a regular basis. They got lucky Datsuk and Zetterburg. Their luck is about to run out. Their demise should have happened several years ago. The tables are turning.

Yeah, the Wings tend to find a way. I'll smile at the fact they missed their main target, but I won't celebrate until they have shown themselves to be non factors on the ice.

Yeah, which is why I think the table, at the very least, started turning last season.

One can only hope that we start beating Detroit regularly in the future for years to come (just as they did to us) and in the process get a couple of cups.

For now, I'll be happy with regular thrashings of the winged wheel.

I do love some of the ideas that the Wings fans have though... offer Weber $14m for 1 year, if the Preds match they'll get him in FA next year because they can't trade him, and if they don't then it is only 4 first round picks! And then he goes somewhere else as a UFA in a years time
