i would like to thank bleedblue1223 for admirably representing the blues posters on here...
in particular, today when oilers fans on the main board decided to offer bot 6, defenseman, and or futures for captain backes... i mean GTFO!!
he responded rnh+ (which i completely agreed with, esp when the opposing fans come drooling for everything that Backes is)
then they proceeded to bash him for 3-4 pages..what a joke
Haha, thanks, I do what I can. I really can't believe how dense certain fans and certain fanbases are.
It's like these kids think real life is like a video game. If real life was a video game, I'd be the greatest GM ever. Taking the Flames and Blue Jackets into dynasties lol.

You mean to tell me that Rick Nash and two 2nd round picks will NOT get you Sidney Crosby in real life?

My personal favorite was when Phoenix offered me Whitney, OEL, and Hanzal for Stewart, some random prospect I drafted, and other picks/throw-ins. That was the computer, I didn't even offer that to them ever lol.
Yeah if I went into the David Backes to Edmonton thread, I probably get infractions for sure lol.
I imagine it went over well
I just got relieved of my infractions today and if that thread was still open right now, id have a new one. Some people on these boards just are too ignorant when it comes to discussing hockey.

Someone hasn't seen the Philadelphia-St. Louis thread yet...lol
We'll match any offer for Pietrangelo. I don't see Shattenkirk getting a crazy offer though.
I think I will have to take a break from here when free agency starts though with how Blues fans got when we didn't sign Perron and Oshie right away. As Blues fans we always fear the worst, and I can only imagine what this place will be like if we don't immediately lockup Pietrangelo and Shattenkirk.
No doubt 1223. Even if Pietro is offered a contract, the Blues will match it. In fact, I doubt it gets that far. Just like with Oshie, I knew a deal was going to happen...even in final hours I had no doubt.
OT: Every time I look at your user name 1223 I think of a Dr. Dooom (aka Kool Keith) song called Apartment 223.

I just wonder what Armstrong's policy is on negotiating extensions during the season. I think he is definitely going to wait until after the new CBA is made before serious talks begin. Armstrong isn't big on the life-time contracts anyway.
i know these offer sheets are rare, but which blues are in danger of being 'poached' by these large market eastern conference teams next season?
or whats the best source for cap info?
I'm not too worried about any offer sheets next year. And that's before the new CBA is hashed out, which I think will only help the Blues cause in that regard.
I get my cap numbers from http://www.capgeek.com/. They are fast and reliable with their information, even if the ads are annoying.

Sometimes I click through the ads so that CapGeek gets paid. Some of the annoying ads are paid for already, but others are click-through and can rack up for a small thing like CapGeek. Annoying, but if it keeps them flush, then I'm okay with it.
We have re-signed players during the season before, most notably David Backes.
However, we seem to wait for FA to start and all that for our younger players. And truthfully, other then Backes, we haven't been offer-sheeted for any of them. AP is a great player, but teams -know- they are flirting with disaster by offer-sheeting other teams players.
I just wish Nashville had deep pockets so they could offer-sheet Schenn and Couterier (sp) when they hit RFA.
That's right, even with Pleau it seemed that the Blues organization had a style of not rushing negotiations. I like that. It is a seemingly laid back, but observant style that works and has carried over to Armstrong's reign.
I did forget about the Backes re-signing. I don't think there is any chance Pietrangelo will reach July 1st unsigned.
I think our finances should be stable by then to not really worry about anything, but I don't think ownership will want to worry about a stupidly huge signing bonus.
Semin to Carolina on a 1-year deal. There are a lot of big teams out there that are still looking for pieces, and there isn't much left. Doan is a free agent, and with Nash gone, the trade market looks pretty bare as well. We could end up having one crazy ending to the summer. All in all, this off-season has been pretty good despite what some people have said.
I don't think that The Blues would want to pay $7 million to a player often accused of playing less than 100%, AND, who had been a 1-dimensional player for most of his career, AND who only scored in the 50s in points the last 2 seasons, AND scored only 21 goals last season.
