Allen offers nothing offensively. We are losing Colaiacovo who quarterbacked one of the PP units. We will need someone who can play on the PP.
I'm not big on signing allen but i think we can replace colaiacovo's spot on the PP with someone we already have.We could possibly put steen back at the point or russell and maybe if he cracks the lineup schwartz somewhere on the 2nd unit. Also Tarasenko is a shoe in for a spot also. I wouldn't be surprised if we go with four forwards on the 2nd unit.
I'm just really hoping we sign Garrison so him and petro can run the top unit and shatty could QB the second unit
you were the 1st one I thought of when I read about this deal
but honestly: whats wrong with per example Carle as an upgrade for Carlo if we miss Garrison and Suter?
Carle costs twice as much as Colaiacovo and only gives you about 10 more second assists on the year. He's not physical, not very good defensively. He costs a ton and isn't part of the solution for what ailed the Blues against LA or will ail the Blues against any physical strong forechecking team in the playoffs. I'd rather the Blues do nothing today than sign Carle. If they can't get Garrison (and Suter appears way beyond their financial reach) then find a depth guy as a 6/7 and go either explore trade options or wait til the season's underway to do it. By trade options I only mean a relatively limited number of options also. Would rather have had Kuba than Carle and would rather have both than Martin and would rather have all three than Bouwmeester.

I don't know, I wanna see this team getting better. If we just have the options to make it slightly better so may it be. But the chances to outpay other teams are slim to non, if we pay .5 too much for Carle I bet someone pays .5 mil more, so i guess you don't have to fear anything
Are there not normally more trades on July 1? Been quiet for a while, maybe everyone is watching the Spain Italy game.
I'll say that if the Penguins can convince Suter to sign, that means they need to move Martin asap. They won't be getting Stewart, but I think we'd have an interest at a very low asset cost.
Carolina just signed Staal to a $60m contract, and now I hear they're in on Nash? How exactly does Carolina have all this money?
TSN was reporting an hour ago that they had the money available to go after both Suter and Parise in FA. Flyers, Red Wings, Penguins and Wild have all made offers to both Suter and Parise apparently.
P.A. Parenteau signs in Colorado, 4 years $4m per.
Absolutely top pairing; in Peoria.
Chorney replaces Syvret as our 8/9 D man. Chorney and Fairchild will be Peoria's top pairing and the first two on call-up duty.
Chorney is a 7th/8th depth dman with two-way option. Doesn't really mean anything. If they sign a Garrison then Cole is the 7th and Chorney and Fairchild are the 8th/9ths. The Blues always want 9-10 guys who can play NHL minutes.
If they don't wind up signing any top-pair dman then they let Cole play in the top six, Chorney and Fairchild are the 7th/8th. I could potentially see Pietrangelo switching to the left and Polak moving up. Cole can play the right side too, so perhaps a Russell-Cole pairing. Backup options.
It wasn't that, it was that they had to put him back on waivers to get him to Peoria and he got re-claimed when that happened. They obviously felt comfortable with him if they're bringing him back.
