Good point. Not sure why Edmonton took him back the first time. Either way, all we've done today is watched other teams get better. The Blues better not be done.

Not many teams have really gotten better IMO, especially the teams that are on our radar.

There really wasn't anybody who's been signed so far that I wanted on the Blues; it's mostly just been depth.

I think we will be testing the trade market.

It's not that I wanted some of the available players, because most just don't have a spot on the Blues...It's that I hate not even being in the race. True competitors find a way to get in the race. They're going to have to spend well over the floor to be competitive in a couple years.

Calm down. We have no need for 3rd line guys, which is mostly what has been going. We also have no need for wingers. If we don't sign another player until the start of the season, we could still field 4 really good lines, 3 really good pairing, and 2 really good goalies.

Just now we need a C and a LHD, one isn't available and D is in very short supply pushing the price to a stupid level. I'm more frustrated by the draft than any lack of action today.

Strickland said we are still looking for top 4 defender and depth forward. Obviously Chorney was signed for Peoria and another emergency callup, and the signing has nothing to do with our other plans. The forward will be Langenbrunner or someone similar.

If Feaster didn't ruin the market, I wonder what the price would be for the other players. I know PAP is a forward, but after the Wideman signing, I was expecting either 5 years or a 5 million cap hit.

If we don't sign someone in free agency that is capable of playing top pairing minutes, we could be in major trouble. Take Pietro off this team, and you have a bubble team at best. Any other injury, and this team will be fine. Pietro must stay healthy though if we don't sign someone who is capable of first pairing duties. Right now we have one first pairing Dman, two second pairing Dmen, and about 4 third pairing Dmen. We were lucky Pietro stayed healthy last season, but there's no guarantee that the same thing will happen again. This would be a great offseason to fix that for the future.

The Blues did have the best goals against in the NHL with the d-men we had last year.

Wild guess - 80% of July free agent signings turn out to be bad deals for the team. Doubt the Blues will jump into this pool at all.

Maybe pick through the leftovers.

While that does have a lot to do with having the best group of defensive forwards in the league... yeah, the "OH MY GOD, WE ARE SO SCREWED" mindset is really over the top.

If he had a history of injuries, then I could understand, but this is incredibly pessimistic.

Any team would be majorly affected if they lost someone like Pietrangelo.

Kyper is saying Suter has chosen Detroit...Which means Weber will probably be there next year.

Play cole, get 7th for depth. I honestly want anyone who watched last year to tell me that cole will hurt our chances more than carlo did.

I've been saying this for months...Doesn't mean I don't want better for the team.

Injuries are a part of the game. Alex Pietrangelo plays almost half of the game for the Blues. At some point, he's going to go down with an injury. Tell me this team can compete for an extended period of time without Pietrangelo. Please. Relying so much on one player in such a physical sport is never a good idea. You saw the playoff game that Pietro didn't play right? That's the Blues without him. "Pessimist is a word invented by optimists to describe realists".

I want Suter or Garrison. Period. If this team stands pat with the addition of Tarasenko, we'll be lucky if we finish any better than 5th. I want this team to be a clear contender...Not the **** I saw for my entire childhood.

I'm surprised...Jmac just signed with Toronto for a 1.5 cap hit. Why wouldn't he stay in Colorado then?

Pietrangelo doesn't have a history of injuries, and his style is not susceptible to injuries. Yes, there will be freak things that happen like in the playoffs, but it isn't likely that Pietrangelo will get significantly hurt. That is the realist view.
