If we sign either of them at a contract which could lead to us not being able to afford Petro or Kirk next year, it would be more of a "your childhood" Blues then standing pat when there isn't a SMART move to make. Throwign money at a problem has been a major problem in Blues history.

I don't know how you think we will finish no better than 5th.

I don't see us finishing any worse than 4th.

He probably wanted to be closer to home.

Suter has apparently not made a decision yet.

JR doesn't think we are done today. Hopefully after dinner and the gym, I will come back to some news.

He doesn't have a history of injuries? He's played 2 damn years in the league. He's not a robot. Everyone is susceptible to injuries. What makes it not likely that Pietrangelo will get significantly hurt? It takes one hit for even a player like Bouwmeester who hasn't had an injury in forever to cause a serious injury in hockey. After Pietro, we don't even have a borderline 1st pairing player. Signing a depth guy to fill in for small injuries is very chancy. Your's is not the realist view, it is a very naive view.

That's good. Now only Carle needs to sign elsewhere.

Welcome home to St. Louisan Mike McKenna. The Blues have signed the goaltender to a two-way contract and he’ll share net w/ Allen in Peoria

Mike McKenna, Scott Ford and Taylor Chorney now. Hardly an exciting day so far.

So now we have McKenna, Karpowich, and Allen in the AHL? Are we going to loan one of them somewhere? I don't understand lol

I realize he's slow, but I really like Allen's size and crease-clearing ability, which is something we really lack on the blueline. ( The LA series underlined this weakness.) I would love to have Allen as a 7th guy to alternate with Russel/Cole when needed, but 3.5 mil over 3 years is obviously way to much for that role. The market has grossly inflated a guy like Allen's value, Imo, although I will not enjoy playing against him in the conference. ( And I agree with you on Carle. Serious no-fly zone there.)

McKenna is a nice signing. If an injury to Halak/Elliott occurs,'he at least has a little experience

McKenna was in Peoria's camp a few seasons back, but never played any games for them iirc.

Nice problem to have for the Rivermen and the Blues. McKenna can handle himself even if he is a little egolicious.

Karpowich may start off in the ECHL. Mckenna is a veteran now with a tiny bit of NHL experience who could help with allens development. That's what i'm taking from this

Blues basically swapped Bishop for McKenna and picked up Ottawa's 2d next year also. Hope they suck!

Suter has apparently not made a decision yet.
Vancouver, Chicago, and LA are the top in their division, in my opinion anyway. That leaves us fighting with Detroit, San Jose, Nashville, Colorado, and Edmonton soon enough. These teams all have a good chance of having a better season than the Blues right now and you can't deny that. That's how easy it is to finish in the bottom half of the playoff teams, where (statistically anyway) you don't want to be.

As for the Suter post I made, I read that as well. My point still stands about Weber joining him wherever he goes though...Which will REALLY suck if it's in Detroit.

Lol. Obviously they COULD, but is it realistic? We COULD also finish above every other team and finish 1st. Anything is possible with the roster tweakings going on around the league. Right now, please tell me how Edmonton (), Colorado, San Jose, Nashville, and even Chicago are better than us...

You are overreacting.

You really think Chicago is the team to beat in our division? It will be between us and Detroit for the division champion and the 4th spot.

Karpowich wiil definitely need to start off in Alaska, unless The Blues can loan him to an unaffiliated AHL team. That keeps pressure off of him. McKenna has already performed well on The AHL level.

I said that Edmonton would be competing soon enough...Not this second. I'm not saying this team is screwed, just that I don't expect another year of competing for #1 in the league. The odds say that the Blues will most likely finish around the 5 spot.
