Some people are clearly over reacting here.

Were not a worse team after today, Konopka was a plug never liked him, I liked Carkner but he was a 7th dman at best.

But I will admit that the Foligno for Methot trade did piss me off.

Is it official that its a straight up swap or are we getting something else?

I think more people are upset that our team toughness is probably bottom 5 in the league now, rather than upset at the moves made today. Atleast that's how I am, the Foligno-Methot deal is a lot easier to take when you have additional physical players with similar skillsets as Foligno, that's not really the case. Chris Neil isn't enough to carry this whole team.

I can't really comment a whole lot on Lundin as we Wild fans didn't really see much of Lundin because he had a sports hernia most of the season.

From the little we saw of him though and from what I already know about him, he's a stay at home d-man who doesn't use his body much. Lundin relies on his skating ability and his stick skills to knock opponents off the puck. You won't see much offense out of him, but he can play the PK and is a solid shutdown d-man. I wish him luck with you guys and it would be nice to see him have a healthy season.

We're down to Neiler and Z Smith now, that's it, that's all. Soft indeed.

I don't feel like we've really upgraded on D, feels more like a lateral move here, when you compare these 2 to Kuba and Carks.

Well that's disappointing, I would have liked him on the Sens for that contract.

Don't mind the moves we made today, but we're still short of a top 6er imo. PAP was the only remaing fa forward I could see fitting in, and realistically signing in Ottawa.

Parros to Florida for 925k.

The only thing that bothers me today is the Foligno-Methot trade. Especially when there's still players out there in Free Agency available.

The only thing I can think of is that Murray and Foligno were worlds apart in contract negotiations, but even then the only leverage Foligno had was if he accepted an offer sheet.

But this doesn't take into account that we also add Silfverberg, maybe Zibby/Stone/Boro/Hoffman, and hopefully improvements from guys like Cowen, Turris, Greening, and Smith. Maybe we're worse on paper, but we still have the potential to be a better team I think.

Murray would rather trade Foligno for 3M 5th/6th defenseman Methot but would not pay 4M a season for 67P top 6 forward Parenteau?

Now I'm upset

For all the good Murray can do, he still has a tendency to get bent over in trades. I'll trust his judgement but damn Foligno for Method straight up looks awful right now.

This whole toughness thing is getting ridiculous. Even without Konopka, Carkner and Foligno, we still have Neil, Smith, Greening, Cowen who will all drop the gloves.

Our main concern should be What If Alfie retires?!

Latendresse-Spezza-Michalek
Silfverberg-Turris-Greening

Ouch.

We'd have those players regardless.

Basically you look at it as
Foligno -> Latendresse
Kuba -> Methot
Carkner -> Lundin
Konopka -> Roster spot

Are we better off from that?

We're also still short a top 6 winger (assuming Alfie sticks around, if not we're short 2 -- in theory both on the right side).

Is Murray meeting with the press at all? I wanna know if he's done for the day I have a ton of guest in my yard and I've spent the day inside drinking infront of the tv/computer.

I think alot of our young guys our going to be looking over their head next year knowing they can't do much in fear of having nobody stick up for them..

Seeing Parros sign sucks

I agree. Parenteau isn't the first player to appear better than he is by playing on a crappy team.

So where did all our toughness go last year? Carkner only played 30 games and you can hardly call Konopka tough or intimidating. Sure, when Foligno decided to show up he was a a tough SOB, but that wasn't often either.

if there's one thing I've learned in my time on HFBoards, it's that a prospect with no NHL experience is way more worthy of a roster spot than an actual NHL player

Every single one of those moves is a downgrade. Latendresse has 27 games played in the last TWO seasons

It's actually my #1 complaint right now and I don't see how you can argue otherwise. Who's going to throw hits? You can probably count on one hand..
