I don't know much about Mitchell but I don't understand the signing if he can't kill penalties. Cheap deal though.

This was a huge face off win by Mitchell in overtime in the playoffs. Shows how much confidence Torts had in Mitchell that he was on the ice in OT during a pivotal playoff game.

As has been said, Mitchell was used alot by Torts in the playoffs, he had alot of trust in him, I really like this signing. And 1.1M is probably 2M less then McClements gonna get for similar players IMO.

I really like this deal, but I REALLY Hate the Carkner deal, makes no sense.

Detroit books a flight for a delegation in order to convince Suter and Parise right at their doorsteps.

Yet we managed to strike in free agency before them.

Sakic and Sherm camped in front of Carkners and Mitchells house and awaited them with scrambled eggs right after police left after both got scared and called 911.

McClement at 3M is just too much, and I love the guy.

It's not too late to jump ship and cheer for a different team.

Lol how old are you? Yeah, let's pay a guy $2.5M+ to play less than 10mins per night!!

It's 1.5 hours in and a total of ZERO big names have signed yet. Calm down.

- This is the right move, Mitchell will play limited minutes and the cap hit is reasonable.

Good luck to Jay Mac wherever he goes and I wish him the best of luck but he's going to sign 3rd line center $$$ and they will be expecting 3rd line center production.

I just hope this doesn't mean that O'Reilly goes back to a more predominant penalty killing role.

No one is denying Jay was an amazing player here, but in reality if you're paying him 3m+ (which some team will) he's going to be your 3rd line center a la gaustad.

No problem with this--it's a 4th line center, they're a dime a dozen, and it's not like this guy is Jeff Shantz. And hell, even if he is, I'm sure there's someone in Lake Erie who can take his place, or we can just put Olver there. Not a big deal either way, though I hope he can do some PK duty. Sounds like he's good on faceoffs, which is a huge plus.

You're right, we should just forfeit the season and cheer for the Penguins

having size, puck possession ability and some offensive skill is very nice to have on the 4th line. could give us good energy on that line and combine that with kobasew's underrated wrister, hey we might even get some offensive from that line. our PK is gonna take a hit though since Mitchell is not a PK guy and I would have liked a PK guy.

so for the PK it looks like...? Anyone?

Like this signing if McClement gets what we think he'll get. Seems like an ideal 4th line center.

I already assumed that was their plan. Stastny will go back to being heavily relied upon probably too.

He's a frickin 4th line center. I'm pretty sure he was forced to play on your top 6 so please go.
