Staubitz was a joke as an enforcer here. I've never seen a guy who was supposed to be a tough, stand-up-for-his-teammates guy who picked his spots to be that guy more than Staubitz did. Konopka will dance with anybody, anytime.
okay, i was wrong. i guess some people are going to celebrate "stupid" penalties. Staubitz routinely tried to fight people. thats where he got most of his penalties. roughing, slashing, etc. expect the same from Konopka, but more of it. again, i don't find anything wrong with it within reason, but it's going to be the same sort of thing. You'll see. Or ****, just check out Konopkas penalties.

I agree that there will be plenty of *****ing about Konopka's PIM's.
The diference between Staubitz and Konopka IMO is, Stuabitz seemed like he took penalties because he thought it was his job, Konopka takes them because he's a little bit crazy and doesnt give a sh. I want a guy that other teams have to worry about doing something stupid.
Out of all of the games that I've watched Konopka in... In none of them would I have drawn a comparison to Staubitz.
Staubitz was an idiot 90% of the time. Konopka is not an idiot...
I don't expect everyone to buy into this signing today, but 10 to 20 games into the season, I am sure that Konopka is going to be a huge fan favorite.
i don't doubt it. look at all the fans that were bummed we got him. it's one of those things...the guy moves around a lot more than Staubitz did and he's a little crazy like j22 said. that's attractive in a 4th liner.
now we just have to keep a list of all the guys we know Fletcher has tried to get...chances are pretty good we're going to target them when their names come up again.
Konopka is a good sign for us, I think. Good they are addressing our bottom 6, but damnit, we still are going to need some talent to actually be able to score on our tops lines.
This totally works for me, i'll never have to see the likes of Peters and Ortemeyer again! Toughness and fourth line faceoffs, what more can you want from a 4th line guy, least center position is solved fairly well for us now.
Good 4th line signing by GMCF. I like the fact that teams will have to look over their shoulders because of Konopka. The Wild needed someone who was willing to start **** with other teams on a consistent basis. The Wild are slowly becoming a team that nobody will want to play against. Now if GMCF could just get the 2 big FAs to come here we will be set.
Stupid signing IMO. The team signed one no talent figher, Kassian, and now Fletcher has signed another in an era where many successful teams don't waste money or TOI on any no talent goons.
Konopka lasts for one year on teams - why? If he's worth anything, if he's such a great fan favorite and such a valuable team guy, why haven't any of the last four teams been willing to keep him for more than one season?

Really?
First, Konopka is not a goon.
Second, he's a decent hockey player. I've seen him play a lot with the Sens last season and he's not that bad.

You do know he can play PK and wins 58% of his faceoffs, right? Hardly a no talent fighter. This is an underrated deal. Team is built with not only superstars, but role players. Clearly, he is one.

Ladies and gentlemen, somebody posted something more negative than me, AMAZING!!!
In all seriousness though, this is a solid signing. Wouldn't mind our bottom six giving some of Eddy's fragile young guns some bruises, maybe even more. . . . yes. . . . . definitely more.
Am I the only one who wants to see Dumba make the team even more after the Konopka signing? Just imagine rolling in on a soft team with a lineup including Dumba, Clutterbuck, Konopka, and Kassian.
