I think Heika's just an idiot. We needed a top 6 option. Not sure how signing Ray moves current top 6 players.

I'm hoping it means Morrow is gone. Not just his C, but off the team. Let Whitney be the veteran forward up front. He's actually got some skill, too.
You can tell Heika's not a fan of this signing. He keeps claiming this might deter the youth movement.
I really don't see how.
Was just bout to come on here and say whoever makes the headlines on the DMN website, has absolutely no idea what's really going on with this whole franchise.

That's crazy. None of the young forwards are ready for the top six this year. Ryder's deal will expire this time next year, freeing up a roster spot in the top six for a younger player then.
Obvious the org thinks none of the kids are ready and wants to give them time in the AHL.
Right and that's the correct approach. Heika's just dumb, every time he writes about the youth movement you can tell he thinks they should just do it this year. He doesn't seem to realize rushing prospects = bad.

Which still makes the whole R. Smith thing so confusing, but whatever.

I don't get how one of Fraser, Glennie, R. Smith and Chiasson isn't NHL ready yet. I don't think there'll be enough room in the AHL for all of them, either, unless you have no veteran presence at all down there.
Smith was already there, looked good. Glennie should be in the NHL by now, and if he's not ready, there's something majorly wrong. Fraser will probably step in once Ryder is gone. Chiasson is the wild card for me right now.

It was desperation. They needed offense during the most critical games of the season. They weren't getting it from the guys on the roster (spares like Vincour), so they went with a kid. Total gamble, but whatever.
Blues fan here happy about you guys signing Whitney should definitely help out ur team for the next two years. What do you guys think about a R. Smith/ benn/ ryder line then a whitney/ eakin/whoever you think and eriksson line You probably first look at this and go are you serious? but if you really think about it, it could potentially turn you guys into a very high scoring team having two lines with first line talent on them. whitney and Eriksson would be great together with whitneys playmaking ability and erikssons finishing and two way play. I think Reilly smith can score alot goals with more and more experience and ATOI. He's got a great release and deadly accuracy. If not this year then 2 years from now he'll be a top six sniper for you guys
