If GMDM for whatever reason finds himself trading for Gomez, does he by any chance get Montreal's 1st round pick to go with moving him as well? Just asking since that was I rumor I heard in the past that Montreal would do if GMDM was interested.

If we find ourselves picking up Gomez and his salary for the next 2 years after apparently not being able to offer Whitney what he was looking for I will not be a happy camper. I don't think we'd have the leverage to get a first along with him though since I could only imagine we'd get him to reach cap floor.

It's a better idea to sign Kyle Chipchura to a one year $7M deal than it is to pick up Gomez.

And Chipchura knows it. It's probably why he hasn't signed yet...

Gormley for Seto? Sure that's what Minny would want.

There's no way we're on Nash's list.

Maybe we could convince him that his success against us is due to the arena in Glendale somehow and if he played half his games here he'd lead the league in scoring.

We got Vermette with a 2nd, think what we can do with a 1st! But seriously, I notice a trend, if a team has to trade a player and the other owners know this and are low-balling that team, I've see it happen in the past that team would rather deal with Maloney than with the other teams. The Coyotes do have the assets and I remember in the back of my head, that when he took over the Sharks, he built a winning franchise that eventually netted big Joe.
I can see Nash be willing to come over and play for a team that just made it to the Western Conference Finals after Jamison takes over. I can also see that the BJs are tired with negotiating all this time with the Rangers and the Flyers aren't really involved they were just trying to drive up the price. There is a slim chance, but I wouldn't say no chance...

Damn with what Matt Carle signed for and the lack of FA dmen available, we might not have to trade Yandle to get someone good. Klesla and maybe even Morris could fetch us a quality scorer. One of those two guys are in out bottom pairing anyway.

I can accept moving Morris, but hell no to moving Klesla.

We have (yes I'm going here) the best defense in the league in my opinion. Klesla is a big part of that; Morris, not so much.

However, I do agree with your logic. There are still quite a few teams who really need NHL D-men, and we have a lot of them. But I'll be damned if I can't even find a rumor of us making a trade. I search everywhere and there is nothing leading me to believe anything is going to happen soon.

It's hard to be patient, but GMDM has done amazing thus far. He has been saying he wants a "star" center for three years now, I'm sure he is as annoyed as we all are -- if not more so -- that we still lack that player.

I think our most likely d-man trade chips will be Schlemko and Rundblad. Heck no to moving Klesla. Morris - depends on the offer, but we would lose a RH shot on D, something we don't exactly have a lot of. Plus, Morris does pair well with Yandle - maybe they'll both have bounce back seasons.

Hmmm, Rundblad straight up for Matt Cullen? Or Schlemko and a 3rd?

Those are two solid options for MIN to open up a little wiggle room and us to pick up another #2 type center. Would Granlund even be a possibility w Rundblad going over?

I think rt has a good feel this summer for Maloney's line of thinking. He may be onto something with a potential Lombardi acquisition. It's so simple it makes sense.

The market for Yandle has now increased dramatically with Suter signing in Minni and Carle in Tampa. Two cities that I didn't see as likely destinations for Yandle anyways. I could see Philli and Detroit both being very desperate and willing to overpay. I'm already on record about a potential deal involving Philli and Briere (salary) plus some young assets (ideally Coutourier). Makes you wonder where these teams were when Michalek was available?

Briere would be nice but he has a NMC.

I wouldn't mind Simmonds though instead plus Giroux.

Giroux is untouchable period.

Briere may have a NMC but he also has a house in Phoenix if I'm not mistaking.

Simmonds would definitely be of interest but I would want more for Yandle.

That may work to our advantage if he does have a home here.

The Blues are rumor to be looking for a L PMD too. They were hoping to sign 1 of the available UFAs. Their options are dwindling down. I would rather the Coyotes trade Gormley before Yandle, but I doubt that anyone will over pay for an unproven prospect. And I don't think there is a market for 1 of our bottom 6 players.

I'm not sure I want Briere at this stage of his career, would have to killed to have him 5 years ago though. But I also understand that him and Doan are friends. Doan has hinted in a couple interviews that they are chummy and talk regularly. That could help in luring him too.

I think it's very easy to see the cap floor being removed or greatly lowered with a new CBA. We are in no rush to get there.

Worst case scenario we carry extra men on our roster. This is where signing those near max entry level contracts with some of our prospects would pay off.

I have been wondering about this, when does actually worrying about the cap floor need to happen? I assume that ceiling and floor will move with the next CBA, so does it matter if we aren't above the floor by Sept? Mouser, anyone?
