In an interview after we brought Michalek back, i could've sworn i heard they were planning on pairing Michalek with OEL.
I think that it was us talking about Z coming back. Morris and Yandle have been paired together for awhile now, doubt that Coach Tip will break up that pairing. Z & Ollie will most likely be paired together when the Sullivan - Hanzal - Vrbata line is out there, kinda a European type line, while Morris & Yandle will be match with the more speedy forwards, and it all depends on match-ups and the lead.
I'm also expecting Sclemko will be paired with Klesla at the beginning of the season

doubt that Maloney would be willing to take on Booth's contract, maybe some interest in Kassian.

I really hope we stay away from Kassian, he isn't shaping out to be a good player at all and we'd be better of with what we got already.

And I stand corrected regarding Michalek. Holy crap is our top 4 good.

I'm not good enough at making proposals to know what would even it out either way, but if Booth isn't a player you'd be interested in taking a place in your top 6 then it doesn't really merit discussion anyways.
No. That's not anywhere near close. Not for me, anyway.

I am confident we will stay away from Kassian. We have plenty of sandpaper. We need someone who can pot goals. I expect movement on this in September (lock-out notwithstanding).

Can someone give a scouting report for Michalek? I've honestly not seen that player play that much and I would like to know a bit more about him. Thank you.

When he left two summers ago, he was our best defenseman at the time.

Extremely intelligent, effective defensive defenseman. Smooth skating, with excellent vision and puck moving ability. Excellent positionally, cuts down angles beautifully, good stick checker, and an elite shot blocker. Top PK guy and can eat a TON of minutes.

Not physical, doesn't take risks, and extremely quiet both on and off the ice. You won't ever notice him in the way you notice a guy like Yandle or OEL, because he plays a very subtle, cerebral game.

One of my favorite players, I love him to death, and I'm completely elated that we got him back. He makes us a much, much better team.

The defense sure is scary.

Yandle-Morris
OEL-Michalek
Klesla-Schlemko(?)

plus Smith in net.

One thing I would add: while no one will mistake him for an upper tier PP quarterback I really liked his point shot. Tends to be very low and on net: not a goal scorer's shot, but the type of shot that generates a lot of rebound opportunities.

I like that, these are amongst the best shots. Lidstrom did that a lot too.

Another thing I left out is consistency. He's never had a bad game.

It's insane how Klesla, a top 2 defender on almost any team, is now a bottom 2 defender.

Where does the Klesla trade rank in Maloney moves? I thought he played brilliantly this past season. Very underrated player at this point.

Hot damn I wish we would've moved on Foligno when he became ailable. Wouldve been a decent Doan replacement and for a reasonable price both in terms of surrendered assets and contract demands.

It's not Vermette-and-Rundblad-for-Turris-and-McElhinney(and a 5th) or Korpikoski-for-Lisin but more on the level of Roszival for Wolski. Really good but he has done better, which is not a critique on him but rather a statement to be said in awe.

Maloney, please never leave.

If you take in the fact that the Coyotes needed a shut down d'man badly, while a lot of trades were made to upgrade and dump players, it was one of his finest moments... I don't underrate what he brings to the Coyotes and would not say he was a bottom pairing d'man. He'll get his minutes as long as he is healthy and Tippet is the Coach...

I hope once Doan makes his decision and Don can start making moves, we throw a contract at Kostitsyn. Hes doesn't seem to be gathering much attention so we could probably get him for cheap, and his creatuvity mixed with Sullivan's would make losing Whitney a little easier.

MY GUESS

Maloney signs Doan, the new CBA will have a salary cap of ~ $66.6 Mil (from 57% to 54%) without roll backs, which should (hopefully) give the Coyotes additional opportunities. I don't see Maloney signing any other free agent and won't make any trades until after the CBA is finalized. If the Cap goes down without roll backs, the Bruins may be more willing to trade Krejci to lower their cap.
right after camp:
I see Johnson sticking with the club
I predict the Coyotes will carry 13 forwards, 8 defensemen, 2 goalies
Maloney will try to make a a deal before Torres comes back
