pretty much spot on...however embrace him on twitter, he's good to his fans

This is fair value for both teams, I think. Ottawa is clearly looking to improve their defense with guys who play defense. With Kuba, Gonchar, and Karlsson all being offense-first guys, Methot should slot in perfectly beside one of them and give them a solid D pair. Gonchar and Karlsson will then be split between Cowen and Phillips ... that's a very good defense corps for them with Methot in the mix

The Jackets get a guy who can play a versatile role and slot somewhere into the top-6. Foligno is a solid pickup for a team desperate for skill and compete up front, and should remind a lot of us of a Scott Upshall - just a bigger version. He'll bring it almost every night, and will do all the little things to help make us a better team.

Really, this is a good hockey trade for both sides.

Sorry to say this, but Howson has made this franchise such a punchline over the past 2 seasons, that nobody of any ilk want to play here. I hope I'm wrong, I truly do.
Are you *****ing about this trade? if so I think you're wrong. Methot was overpaid and Foligno has some grit, some offense with some upside and is a forward. If you are just *****ing, well, okay.

Great community guy, possible future assistant captain. Works hard and plays physical. He lacks some skill to stay on the 2nd line permanently but if you go by points he's comfortably in the top 6. North-south player.

Of note:

Foligno had 15 goals and 47 points this past season, which would have placed him third on the Jackets in scoring. He also threw 196 hits. We need more battlers like this!

Not crazy about the youth of that third pairing.

I think that is exactly why there are rumors CBJ may still want a depth dman.

Hard to see us losing on this trade unless Foligno gets 1st line money.

That's why I said Prust on the 3rd line is more realistic... The players in the Nash trade could maybe knock him out... Anyway, Prust to Montreal.

Foligno Letestu Dorsett would be fun to watch.

Prust/Ponikarovsky Letestu Dorsett as well is probably more realistic for the CBJ.
I agree. That would be a nice 3rd line.

Yes, damn Savard for not being an All-Star at 21.

And no one has ever referred to Savard as a "mental midget"...that's just idiotic. There's no other word for it.

What this really says to me that Murray and Moore have been penciled in as our third defensive pairing. Which may work perfectly, but it puts a lot of pressure on the kids to perform.

Anyone want to guess what kind of $$ it's going to take to sign Foligno? Less than Methot was making?

****ing love this trade. Methot has a HORRIBLE contract. Foligno will hopefully start as 2nd line LW for us and let RyJo develop at 2C. Of course I see Richards planting RyJo on the 4th line and Foligno being our 2nd line C.

A legit 3rd line that hits and chips in... Remember when Arniel wanted to roll 3 scoring lines with our personnel?

And nothing against Sammy P but I want a 3rd line that flat out kills some people... Sammy was defensively responsible but not my cup of tea.

Obviously, we would prefer to not have two guys that young together, but they would complement each other really well.

Not worried about it. Murray was touted for a reason and Moore carried Methot/Lebda/otherbaddmanheplayedwith all year.

Wonder if he will keep 71? If so we will have a 71 and 72 on the team.

Really like this trade. Likely gets a 1 year deal and remains a RFA. We see what he does and then sign him longer term.

Methot off the books helps. I think he'll do well in Ottawa but only if he gets his edge back. Should be a 2nd pair guy but his mental mistakes really hurt him I think. Not sure when he should carry puck or move it via pass. that's a big problem with him.

His last contract was 2 years, and a $1.2 million hit. Actual salary last year was $1.55 million.

No clue what he's looking for.
