If Haley can forecheck, stick up for teammates and skate a little bit, he's a useful NHL player. His AHL points numbers are fine, too - not incredible, but he wouldn't be putting up that many if he didn't have some basic hockey talent.
Any Islanders fans care to explain why the guy didn't get that much burn for them?
we cant...mot fans wanted and thought Haley would of been the 4th line center for us but for some reason managment went in a diferent direction....
What the **** is this? Please for the love of god, stop with these ****** proposals! You offer 6 for 6 trades that offer mostly all our crap for another team's garbage. Enough! This **** will never happpen!
LOL, While I agree with your sentiment relating to the offer proposed, you might have went over the top here.
dont look past this signing haley in hungry ass hell to lock down a spot in the league and hell do whatever it takes. hes a great forecheker, toughest guy in the league pound for pound imo, can pk, and is an underrated offensive guy, he moves the puck quite nicely.
People have to remember what the general consensus was on Prust when he came to the Rangers. If the Rangers signed this guy, he likely has some redeeming quality.
Yep, Prust had 8 points dating back to 06-07 in the NHL before the Rangers acquired him. The Rangers made him the player he is today. I don't wanna get ahead of myself with Haley but based on what I've read from Islander fans and the few times I've seen him play, I don't see why he can't be something similar to Prust. Only issue is it looks like there may not be any room on the NHL roster for him unless injuries strike.
When I found out they signed him, I was pretty happy about that.
Seeing comments like "AHL signing" or anything to that extent just shows me how little some of my fellow Ranger fans have actually watched this kid play or just the pure venom towards this kid because he was an Islander.
Do u people even watch hockey before u post such stupid non sense.. Rupp is a solid player and great locker room guy
Rupp hasn't been what we signed him for since a few games after the winter classic and where he mugged that guy on Florida. Haley is younger and faster. At no point did I or nearly any of us say Rupp is bad. Maybe you should read this nonsense before blowing up....
I'm pleased with this signing. I'd imagine the plan is to have Haley earn the 4th line center spot over Newbury, which I don't think he should have that hard of a time doing as long as he can win some faceoffs. Asham-Haley-Rupp may be one of the oddest looking trios of forwards in the league if that's the line.
Haley, who has played in 43 games over the course of his NHL career with the Islanders (two goals, one assist, 151 PIM, 15 fights), signed a two-year deal believed worth $600,000 per, with this season including a minor-league clause.
The more I think of this signing, the more I like it. He's only 26, tough, and not for nothing, but he has put up some decent numbers in the AHL. Looks like he can skate and protect the puck fairly well.
Looking forward to see what this guy can do. Hopefully he beats up a fishie or two.
I like this signing a lot. This is Sather's way of looking for the next Prust. Hard-nosed, young, hungry. Let Torts get a hold of him and he will be fine. I would MUCH rather have Haley over Mitchell @ 1.1 that is for damn sure.
