Overpaiment but it will be fun to have him.
He will. The guy is a warrior. He fights, blocks a ton of shots, and never misses a game, let alone a shift.

I'm pretty sure he just had surgery in his hand after an injury he got in January. The same thing happened last year.

He plays through everything.

lol wow we actually got him

thats so weird, the last couple of days alli read about was how people wanted him bad

so far a great day for us and weve only signed 3rd liners lmao

but with signing nokey, moen, white AND armstrong

getting prust has got to mean someone is on the trading block for us... wonder who

And to people crying about how much he makes, its a little less than 1/30 of the cap.

So happy. 500K too much on the cap hit.

3 --> 2.5 --> 2 --> 2 as per ESPN.

4 Years 9.5M.

Nice. LOVING THIS DEAL! Hes the guy I wanted the most this free agency. I wonder how much Marie Pier actually influenced Prust in taking this decision.

Get real, man.
Our top 6 is composed of two wingers who are nearing the end of their prime and you mentioned 5 guys. The last guy is bourque who is boom or bust. IF DD does not replicate last year, then what? A lot of question marks and not great offensive depth. Average top 6, but hopefully a better bottom 6 will allow our top 6(mostly Plekanec) to get easier minutes.

Well, as others have said, love the player, hate the contract. I'm a little concerned about Bergevin's priorities but I really didn't expect Prust to make much less. He's the kind of player any team wants.

Holy overpayment, Batman !

I hope it's the last bottom liner we sign, because these guys will criple our cap for a long time.

You overpay for stars and you fill the other lines with cheap guys, cap management 101.

I've been hating the softness of this team. I want some guys who will stand up for PK and Price, DD and Pleks. None of these signings are monsters, but each is a step in the right direction and collectively they add some legitimate grit to our group. Yes we overpaid for Prust but honestly, dump Gomez and the team has tons of cap room, and tons of revenue.

You got to remember we just picked 3rd over all, finished last.

We're no where close to Rangers caliber .....so he might fit in places here where he never would with you guys.

Check yourself bro!
I hate to say it, but can we really rely on Markov at this point? I love the individual players, but there's a LOT of questions about our defense.

Cole just had the best year of his career, and Gionta should be good for 20-25 goals when he gets back. Yeah, they're aging, but add a Jagr in there and I like it.

Never said it was great, just that it's far from the "worst".

Habs don't have the record right now to convince top UFAs to join us. In this particular instance, we shaped up the bottom 6, adding toughness and character. That works for me. This team still needs work though, but this is some quality depth in bottom 6.

Why a trade ?

Enough place for everyone + an extra space that could become a good second-line winger and push White or Noke as #13 forward.

MaxPac - DD - Cole
Bourque- Plekky-Gionta
Moen-Eller-Armstrong
Prust-Noke-White

They just need another top-two line winger. That's it !

Could be a UFA like Jagr or Parenteau or a youngster.
