Former Jet Brett MacLean Hospitalized

Quote:
GLENDALE, ARIZONA—- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney has issued the following statement regarding Coyotes forward Brett MacLean who suffered a cardiac emergency last night in Owen Sound, Ontario.“Brett was playing hockey last night in Owen Sound, Ontario when he suffered a medical emergency,” said Maloney. “Brett received CPR on site and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance where he was treated. He was then transported via an air ambulance to Knight University Hospital in London, Ontario where he was admitted to the cardiac ICU. Our thoughts and prayers are with Brett and his family. We request that everyone please respect their privacy at this time. We will provide an update on Brett’s status when information is available.”
Get well soon, Brett.

5 games.

Hopefully he's alright. Even if he never becomes more than a good AHL player, which he already is by the looks of it, 23 is way too young to have to quit hockey due to health reasons. ICU is very worrisome though.

Thats not good at all, he's only 23. When he played for Winnipeg for 5 games or whatever it was I enjoyed watching him play, he has potential. Hope you get better soon Brett!

It really gives guys like me a concerned feeling. I am nearly twice this kids age, and I feel like I am in great shape, but if he is having heart troubles, then who knows?

Sure hope he comes back 100%

Encouraging news.

@RealKyper: #Coyotes Brett MacLean is in stable condition and remains in I.C.U. He will undergo further tests to determine cause of his collaspe.

Cardiac emergency could be anything from his heartbeat going super irregular (could have fainted), his heart stopped for some reason or he had a heart attack.

None of those are very good and I hope it's nothing too serious and he can continue playing.

Is it ridiculously hot out in Owen Sound like it is here? Maybe that played a part, especially if he was playing pick up outside.
