For people saying lol overpayment, the guy had 70 points, now yes playing with Tavares but he'll fit in nicely with Statsny.

Decent price I'd say.

If he can get playing time on the pp, I don't see how he can't duplicate his last season. The only overpayment is on the length. But it shouldn't be a problem if he plays anything like the past 2 seasons.

Considering most of HFBoards was expecting a caphit upwards of $5m, I'd hardly call this a "bad" signing, let alone a "laughably bad" signing. As others have stated, if he continues producing, this is a steal at $4m -- especially considering Gaustad is only making $500k less.

4 million is what I thought he would get. Not that bad for a UFA signing.

4 years - $16M

That's not a bad deal IMO. I was expecting a Leino-type of contract, this one is digestable. I wish PA lots of luck in Colorado. I think he could mesh well with Duchene, he's had practice playing with a stud, young center.

Wow. That cap hit is actually less than i thought with teams bidding for his service.

If he keeps it up Colorado just added a nice piece!

Guy put up nearly 70 points. Even if he only hits 50 for the duration of the contract it's still a solid deal for the Avs.

I think the cap hit is perfectly fine considering the market, it's the term that always seems troubling.

*breathes a sigh of relief* I'll take the trade off of overpaying Prust by 500 K annually in exchange for not overpaying Parenteau by at least 1 M, if not 2 M.

Colorado seems like a decent fit though, could see him doing well with Duchene.

Colorado needs defense. Zanon isn't going to cut it.

We have no trouble with cap. We are almost at the floor now when Rielly and Johnson sign. Hopefully he can fit well with Duchene and get 70 points

Mitchell - Fine

Zanon - Wouldn't mind him if we still signed Carle or someone and didn't re-sign SOB but now we have EJ and 6 other decent defensemen at best.

Parenteau - Not happy with this signing at all but hopefully he proves me wrong.

Lower than I expected, which is good. I think it won't be a great contract but Colorado needs to spend some money and you might as well pick up some good free agents instead of overpaying for unskilled players.

I expected more money and term to get him signed. Would have loved him in Ottawa at that contract, especially after trading Foligno away.

Much better deal then what I thought he was going to sign for. As somebody else said could be a fair deal if he consistently puts up 15G-35A+(which wouldn't surprise me)

Just out of curiosity Colorado fans, do you guys have a whole on your PP needing a guy to play the left hand side? If you use him there that's his bread and butter and I would expect 50+ points easily.

I also think their is some room for PAP to improve as a player(the difference between 2010/11 PAP and 2011/12 PAP was noticeable)
