Eklund links us with Salo, he's an awesome d-man when healthy

He'll be 38 before the season starts and he's never stayed healthy a whole season. Not someone I really want.

What a relief that Eklund linked him to us. Now we don't have to worry that he might end up here.

EDIT: Welp, I guess I'm an idiot (e5)

Salo is a good defenseman. He's super slow now of days, but he oozes hockey sense everywhere on the ice. His slapshot naturally isn't what it used to be, but still above average. If you slot him as a top 4 d-man, you're gonna have a bad time.

Yeah, he gets injured a lot but usually good for 60+ games. Good player when healthy. One of the best bottom pairing defenders in the league.

Salo is great, when healthy of course. Hopefully since he got a 2 year deal the money won't be too bad.

Shouldn't be higher than 3-3.5 per. But like I said, Salo good for 60+ games a season usually.

I think if we slot anyone outside of Brewer and Hedman on our current roster as a top 4 d-man, we're gonna have a bad time.

Sami's a good guy, but Yzerman grossly overpaid.

Well that's a lot of quid.

Seriously though, Salo's no bum. Good for at least 60 games a season and good powerplay presence. Great defender as well. His raw skills aren't too great and he's pretty slow these days but hockey sense is through the roof.

Not a huge fan of that salary, but given the market it's not too bad. My guess is we're done with FA defensemen.

Overpayment, good player but at that price a bit too much... only 2 years, not that bad I guess

You'll enjoy him when he's not injured. He's not very mobile but he's positionally sound. Will never make a hit. Decent breakout pass.

About 2 million dollar per year overpayment but I guess it's not a big deal if you have the money to spend.

Im not suprised that he paid so much, we have seen some ridiculous sums been paid, also remember the cap has gone up.

If he can stay health it's a great move, I really wanted Salo so im happy, just hope he can stay healthy!
