Your Wants and Needs?

Hey there, Hawks fan coming in peace. I'm a big Lightning fan, but I can't watch them enough to know their true wants and needs, which I need to know for a GM game on here. So, let me ask you, what are your true wants and needs for this club? Any insight is very much appreciated, and thanks in advance!

3rd line center is the only real need.

Wants would be a #2 dman and a top 6 winger. Neither of those are an absolute necessity though since Eric Brewer and J.T. Brown play those positions adequately.

Our needs is for one of goalie prospects or Lindback to become a legit #1, Hedman to become the player he was expected to be, Vinny to stay healthy and produce like he did before the injuries, Connolly/Brown/Conacher become top line fowards, besides that I don't think we have any other needs.

It's one calendar year between name changes, right? I need to get rid of this MAB4Norris moniker.

A 2w spot is open, but a lot of good players are competing for it, so it's considered filled. A 3c spot is open, Killorn, a rookie, looks like the favorite. If he isn't ready, maybe Wilson, or they might go outside the org. The guys we have competing for the 5,6d spots were a bit shaky last year, but they are young and will probably be better this season, if not, they might go outside the org.

Some more help on the bench, a spot on the roster to open for Gudas, and a 10-20 goal option 3C.

3rd line center, Dominic Moore is a FA isn't he?

Why isn't Yzerman jumping on that?

I've always like Moore on the lightning, he plays with alot of heart and does tons of little things. He was great as a 3rd line center and impressed in the 2011 playoffs. Plus he's liked by plenty of players on the team.

Tyrell, Pouliot and Moore would be a great 3rd line if Connolly can make the jump to top-6.

One of the beat writers said that there was interest in bringing Moore back. I would guess any contract he signs would be contingent on his wife's health and where she feels comfortable.

I think Moore would be pretty solid on a line with Pouliot Brown or Pyatt.

Moore is a good player and a great guy I just don't see a spot for him anymore. He's gonna want a multi year contract which we can't do for a 31/32 year old. It would delay us bringing up Killorn and Namestinkov who will be our bottom 6 C's soon. We also have too many fowards on one way contracts so we'd be paying a few fowards to sit in the press box or have expensive AHL players. I think we can get by with Thompson/Pyatt/Wilson playing the 3/4 line center position.

Moore should take time off and focus on his wife and her health. Thats already hard enough to deal with. He doesn't need to try to juggle a hockey season as well.

Ehh...I'm not so sure. Insurance is expensive and hockey is his cash flow. Being with a team like the Lightning, may actually take some of the pressure off, as I don't see Vinik being stingy on helping the family out. Especially if the CBA does expire and there's no cap to circumvent.

Cheap one year contract with NMC and the understanding that he gets scratched for a number of away games. Let the kids get some ice time on the road and he can spend more time with his family?

Honest, this is a great idea. A vet like moore would be nice to have around, but with his situation, being able to let him off for a bit of time would be good for him, and allow some of the kids to get ice time.

Plus, having a guy like moore in the locker room cant hurt anything come playoff time. He is a really good guy.

That wouldn't be a bad idea after you put it that way. At the same time I don't think it would happen, Vinik and Yzerman are family first people and would rather him take time off with his wife to get better.

I dig what you're saying though. Sometimes being away from it, even for a game, can bring a little peace. Just skate and clear your head, or take it out on a few people on the forecheck.

Hopefully Mrs. Moore ends up better. **** cancer.
