The good is he's just what we need. Right shot than can help the D and the pp too. Helps fill a top4 spot and add some needed Vet experience for our young Dmen that we are missing with Ohlund. And if Ohlund comes back you have some instant chem right there.

The bad is we aren't the Canucks. They are much deeper on D than we are. They can manage just fine when he's out or hurting. We are going to rely on him, Brewer, and Hedman to anchor our D and I don't think you can count on him to stay healthy the whole season to do that.

Always in the right position. Not the fastest, but his position makes up for it. Never gets beaten inside. A bomb from the point to help out the PP. Except at least 3 injuries and only 60GP out of him though. Ohlund, now Sami to Tampa. I'm going to have to cheer on the Bolts this year.

2 years at that price is not too bad. This is the price you have to pay for d men these days. i think its a good signing with the potential to be really good if he can stay healthy. Its a quality defeseman which is something we have not had many of. Im very glad its only 2 years though, gives us flexibility when we really need to spend the cash.

Us Canucks fans were praying he wouldn't be playing top 4 minutes. He's slowed down a lot, and isn't very durable at times. Could very well be hurt/worn down more if he's playing top 4 minutes. IMO those days are past him.

Why do we need more glass? We have MAB who is essentially the exact same role as Salo. And at 3.75, we over paid by a good million dollars.

EDIT: Maybe Yzerman decided get a guy that will get injured to Aulie and Oberg can move up and down freely.

Worse defensemen have signed for more today. Not wild about it and I hope we still trade for another defender but the price isn't out of line with some of the money being thrown around and we still have a ton of capspace.

The NW division is also a rougher neighborhood than the SE, so maybe we'll get 65 games out of him.

If Salo can put some freaking points on the board, he'll have one thing over every other defenseman we have.

I don't get it. According to CapGeek he earned $2 million last season. Why overpay so much?

Let's just hope the $3.75 million are his total salary instead of his cap hit and reporters just messed up.

He took a hometown discount last year to stay with the Canucks.

I like it. We're obviously not done, so Salo is decent depth. Rather have him in the top 4 than Lee...

Hopefully we can get one of Suter, Carle, or Garrison to help out the D some more.

We have the cap space, who cares if we overspend by 1 mil or 2. Its term that would have been the bad part.

Don't even compare MAB to Salo. MAB couldn't hold Salo's jockstrap. MAB has a good shot and that's it.

Everything will depend on if he puts the points up with us. TB seems to be a place where defensemen go to die, and if he shrinks up, we'll end up ****ing hating him, and it won't be just his fault.

As for him being overpaid. The extra million is for sisu.

I'm a Salo fan and hopefully he can stay relatively healthy. It definitely feels like an overpayment and a considerable risk.

Well we have over $13million WITH him so I don't think his contract is that big of a deal right now.

Right now, but once you start being lazy on a few contracts, you end up like the Calgary Flames.

We're going to miss the hell out of Salo. You got yourself a great D-Man and one of the classiest players in the NHL.

Wish him all the best with the Bolts!
