I predict, now, that Canucks will revisit Luongo talks with TB. Lightening will ask Salo what he thinks thier team needs. I bet he says Luongo.

Salo was great here. I think this is prudent, though.

My favourite Finnish player all time. Good that he got a good deal.

Very much agree with the sentiment in this thread. Felt very much the same when Ohlund left to TB as well. Both key parts of the team for a long time and very underated...will definitely miss you SALO!

As a side note, for that money, I wouldn't have really wanted the Canucks to sign him.

I still can't believe he's gone. I was 10 when Salo made his debut with the Canucks, so he's basically been a part of the team for as long as I've been a hardcore fan.

Sigh.

I was really hoping he'd retire with us.

I don't begrudge the Canuck's decision, but I'm sad to see him go.

Tampa paid way too much, but that doesn't make it any easier to say goodbye. He's been a Canuck so long, the team won't feel the same without him.

I still remember when we traded for him. Peter Schaffer going the other way to Ottawa, if I recall correctly. I loved the trade, and I was right to.

I guess he'll reunite with ohlund? It'll be weird to see him in a non-canuck jersey. I'll miss him. Good luck sami.

How many players release statements like that after they have signed somewhere else? Few have the class of Sami. Not going to lie, my eyes got a little teary reading that. I wish him the best of luck in Tampa. Should definitely be honored in the ROH when all is said and done.

All class...possibly the one guy on the Canucks that nobody in the league could say they hated with a straight face.

Will miss his stability, his class and his bomb from the point. And also the various jokes about snakes.

Well, there's Marchand, but I barely consider him a person.

Bittersweet day for Canuck fans

Sign Garrison..lose Salo

I have a lot of respect and admiration for Salo. He's the definition of class

I just wish he could have won the cup with Vancouver. He deserved it more than any other

Anyway..a true foot soldier..thanks for the memories

Wishing him the best of luck in TB

Salo has been one of the few Canuck players that have been on the roster since my I've become a hardcore fan, so it's even tough for me to see him move on. I really wish he would have been able to win a Cup here. I think the year we went to the Final I was wanting us to win more for him more than anyone else!

Gonna miss that slapshot too!

In the hopes of justifying his actions, Marchand tried to convince everyone that Sami was a dirty player. He may as well have claimed a cereal box mascot was a serial killer while he was at it.

Think Salo will miraculously play an injury free season the moment he leaves Vancouver?
