Bwahaha, never expected him to get more than the league minimum. And three years too! He must have a very good agent, because Dallas just got fleeced.

Good caphit for Rome. Not the biggest fan but was effective from time to time when used correctly

terrible for Dallas in the sense that rome at a 1.5 AAV and 3 year term is a joke of a contract

but it's not like they're constricted by the cap so I guess they don't mind the numbers all that much.

I guess Vancouver fans will have to find other names to put into rediculous trade proposals.

Oh thankyou thankyou thankyou Dallas!!! He's gone! Freakin finally...

Seriously though, Rome's a decent 6-7 guy. As long as your coach doesn't decide he's a top 4 guy and relentlessly play him over better options, he'll be solid.

Aaron Rome isn't nearly as bad as people make him out to be.
Solid bottom pairing guy, real low event and a guy coaches (especially AV) love to have.

No one seems to be saying Rome is garbage... just that he was overused in Vancouver.

I like the idea of Rome as a 6/7... so..

Not a bad signing I guess. As long as the Stars don't expect him to be anything more than a bottom-pairing guy, they should be fine.
Truth.

We hated Rome. I hated him at least. He's a mediocre #7 guy. Coach played him like a top 6 guy, which he isn't. Just nothing to his game. Gets rid of the puck quick, physical and between slow-mediocre in speed. Makes mistakes from time-to-time.

I will say he has become more dependable as the years have gone on.

I'm glad we are finally rid of him. It's like hearing that your herpbes are somehow never coming back.

You should try saying one nice thing a day. It will keep your blood pressure down. You have been a big negatron today.
I'll start. I lived in your city for 5 years. It is passable and your downtown area is a nice place to work and there are many nice restraunts for oil and gas people to eat in. Also the Beau is really nice.
Also, I like Michael Cammaleri, Michael Backlund, and Jarome Iginla.

See?

Really?

I agree he is a low event guy and AV and teammates loved him.

But he is not a good bottom pairing guy. He is a passable #7.

He has size and seems like a good guy, but will frustrate you with his lack of anything. He just doesn't posses any good traits.

I'm so glad he is gone.

I'm glad he's gone. It was him or AV that had to go, and unfortunately, AV just got extended.

That being said, keep him as a 10-15 minute a night guy, and not 20+, and he's fine, and actually, probably worth the money. He won't score more then 2 goals in a season, but will prevent far more.

Best of luck to Rome and the rest of the Dallas Stars.

Recently I watched Game 3 of the Boston/Vancouver series, minus all the emotion we were all caught up in at the time.

For as much flak as Luongo and the Sedins get, the Canucks were in control of that series until Rome's ill-advised, idiotic, headhunting hit on Horton.

After Boston's shock of losing Horton (the beginning of the second period), the wheels started coming off for Vancouver, and they were never the same. Their facial expressions, body language, etc. were vastly different.

Yes, the eeked out a 1-0 home win, but Rome's hit was not only a game-changer, it was a series-changer.

I know everyone deserves a second chance, but it really is best he's gone from Vancouver.

Rome's a good soldier, but as a hockey player he's terrible. Don't mind me celebrating the fact I don't have to worry about him getting more ice time than our other - much more talented defenceman.

LOL, finally he's gone.

Not a bad 6th/7th dman. But he is NOTHING more. AV used him as if he was a top 4 dman and sometimes a top pairing player... lol

Typical Joe deal-questionable length and too much money-8 defensemen so likely one of fistric/robidas gone

Sweet. The Stars really have too many top end defensemen, we've been needing to stock up on bottom pairing guys.

Pardy likely to be demoted I would imagine (hoping).

So you're saying he may cost us the Cup?
