They've been regular season competitive but they never even won a playoff round till this year, haven't really gotten close to a championship. Couple that with the fact a LOT of this team is going to turn over the next couple of years and I could actually buy ownership being a legit worry. I mean christ, without Zach we're going to barely be a floor team THIS year, never mind down the road.

Brodeur reportedly looking for a 2 yr deal in the range of 9-10 mill. Definite upgrade over Corey Crawford. Two yr deal is questionable tho.

Imagine if Florida signs him? I'd feel REALLY bad for Scott Clemmenson.

Wait 2 years...he may not be. Guys ,thing is this ownership/financial issue is in its infancy. All the past contracts can be covered. Its the future ones that are in issue. I find it hard to believe that so many cant grasp that these issues are real and will effect how we go forward. MAybe the devils were able to alleviate Parises concerns. Maybe that mystory investor was made known to him so he could see it was real. Don't ya think tho, if this guy was real he would have at least leaked something so the team would be more able to keep the two iconic players on the team?.

If he really wants to cash out for his remaining years, I don't blame him.

Doubt anyone would take a discount for the team after Kovy's contract.

Just hoping we don't lose Marty and Parise...

Any GM that thinks he is worth 5million for a year is out of his mind. Any GM that thinks he is worth 5million per for TWO years is simply trying to troll the Devils.

Yeah I think that mystery investor's about as real as Santa Claus at this point, something would have leaked by now. Looks like Botta got one wrong.

I'm just wondering, but how much of a blow was the Prudential Center?

I always knew about the financial situation, but ignored what the actual amount was (was mainly focused on the season at the time).

i'm not worried about the ownership situation. They offered Parise a big contract, whether he takes it or not is not the point. People may be scared off signing long term until everything is cleared up for fear of it bottoming out but the team isnt broke.

The biggest problem I think they have is that there is NOBODY out there to replace Parise or Brodeur. This is the worst free agent class ever.

that would not explain the NY Times article, in which they claimed to see some kind of official documentation

If finances/ownership was the biggest concern(despite the huge run), then a)they wouldn't be doing these re-signings/buyouts and b)they wouldn't be getting a draft in which they pick up alot of the tab for. But let's forget the fact Lou's consistent stalling with these type of matters has never existed; forget the fact that a 40 year old Marty wants to paid, suckas.

SO we're at the floor. Would you rather give Oli Jokinen a 3 year 18 million dollar deal??? I'd rather they have a trim payroll this year if the nuclear option happens (lose all 3 guys). Otherwise you'd have what you had in 2006. The 3 M's of doom. (Mogilny, McGillis, Malakhov).

For all we know the cap gets reduced next year after CBA negotiations anyway, and a lof of teams that spent up to it will be looking to dump payroll. I'd rather wait for cheap gets next year (or at least better FA's) than chase after bad contracts this year.

Are we really comparing a 167K buyout and a 575K/105K two way salary to a 10yr/80 mil min contract?
