While salaries are out of control in the NBA, general managers still possess the ability to make trades and in a lot of cases, multi-team trades. NHL general managers aren't creative enough or gutsy enough.

At least Tallon learned from his Campbell mistake so he won't make the same mistake twice with Garrison.

Potter is waived. Peckham traded in a minor deal.
Go after Carle or Garrison (if the price isn't as crazy as reported). If that doesn't work out go after Salvador. A strong shutdown guy who had a great playoffs. If THAT doesn't work out then trade for Hjalmarsson.
Would Chicago take something like Omark and 2nd?
Tambo needs to add 1 more defenseman to the group if we want to compete for the playoffs. We cannot settle for Sutton, Potter or Peckham in our top 6 D. Just my opinion.

For a guy who played tough minutes for Canes, nice term and value.
Makes us even for Schultz right?

Tambo should have been in on Foligno or Latendresse IMO. Latendresse is the kind of high risk high reward player you take a shot at. Foligno would have looked good here on any of the top 3 lines. Were short LW's and Hartikainen can't be expected to be our 1st or 2nd line LW.
I'm one of the guys that wants Carle on the team, but with the bidding up to insane levels on Garrison, who's to say Carle with a longer track record of production and effective play isn't going to demand more? You start getting up at 5.5+ million per year on players and you start having to factor them into contracts for our top young players, and you just don't do that for middle of the road players no matter how much they'll help in the present.
Bouwmeester and his short term contract is looking more appealing than what it'd take to get some of the guys signed to a contract this UFA year.

i think paajarvi will do well this season, the ahl imo sure helped, with his off-season training im going to say he goes back into form like he was in 10/11 but better and will be good for us on second/third line lw position.
they're going to take a pretty large step back in the standings this year though
They'll still run away with the division rather easily... but instead of finishing first in the conference and league they'll be... maybe third in the West.

or he might just stay in ahl 1 more season.
Paajarvi is fine if we want to be a butter soft team again. We need to add some more JAM and I'd be fine with moving Paajarvi to do it.

Latendresse, maybe (if he didn't want to play close to home). But for Foligno, do we really want to trade a top 4 defenseman for a winger?
I think we've seen the best Canucks teams the last two years. They didn't win anything and it'll probably be a gradual decline from this point on.
They have an opportunity to inject some talent with the Luongo trade, but it's not going to be easy. My guess is they don't get much back for him. Beyond that, I'd say next year basically hinges on a couple of disappointments, Kesler and Edler, returning to form. Big question marks imo. I know some people are questioning Schneider, but assuming he stays healthy I think he'll do fine.

You mean no 3-peat for the President's Trophy Champions! Say it ain't so!
