Wanted Foligno gone at the end of the year but figured we could have picked up a bit more in a trade so I voted bad trade.

I love the fact Foligno is gone, I love the fact Methot is a physical defensive defenseman so I am stoked about this trade!

The superficial part of me likes it for the pun potential.

The hockey fan in me likes it. From a pure logistics sense, we dumped a 32-year old defenceman with injury problems (Carkner) for a 27-year old shutdown defenceman (Methot.) Huge coup on the rebuild front.

Value wise the sens lost this trade

Foligno still has room to grow and get better

Other players are irrelevant to this trade. It is irrelevant of the sens have players to assume Foligno's role. Carkner is setting the bar pretty low when discussing Methots value. A defenceman better than carkner could have been had for much cheaper.

We've seen the ceiling of Foligno imo. Glad he's replaced to fill a greater need.

Feel bad for Nicky. Wish he went to Buffalo for some McNabb.

Needs an "even" and a "wait and see" option.

I'm perfectly fine with moving foligno to get a defenseman.
I'm perfectly fine with methot being that defenseman.

i just think foligno should have been worth way more than just methot.

The fact that Foligno got sent to Columbus eases any worries of him possibly improving and growing as a player

On paper, I'm not happy with the trade. So I'm going with the "bad trade" option. However, we don't know how things will pan out. I haven't seen an excessive amount of Methot's on ice play and have heard good things about him. We did address a need and the log jam of forwards.

The reason I believe it's a "bad trade" right now is because I simply feel that we could of gotten stronger value elsewhere.

I think a better comparison is we replaced Kuba with Methot. Which I stil think is a better deal. Let's not forget Kuba had an ok year playing with the best d-man in the league. Any one would of had good number playing with Karlsson. Methot played on the worst team in the league.

To me, Foligno had more value to this team than the 47 pts he produced. If we're talking strickly hockey, I think it's a fair trade. But Foligno grew up in an NHL dressing room, he was part of the young leadership core and could definately wear an ŤAť once Alfie retires.

This is the kind of trade that could be good on the hockey side but could be devastating in terms of the void left in the room.

I voted that yes, it was a good trade.

methot is on twitter, therefore from everything i understand about the internet he will soon become a "Great Player"tm

I want to be on this bandwagon before it starts!

I like Foligno and all but how many more Octobers am i going to say " maybe this is the year Foligno produces on a regular basis"

I think he is what he is, high teens, maybe 20 goal scorer someday.

The defense was addressed without giving away any prospects. Its still a rebuild and the cubbard is still full.

Please give me another defenseman that a team would have been willing to trade for Foligno that is not grossly overpaid and playing 2nd pairing, left handed and that uses his big body

This trade is like the Turris trade, it fills a need.

I'm upset solely for value. I think Foligno could've garnered a more than we paid for.

New Poll question.

a) Is this a stupid poll.

b) Is this a dumb poll.

Holy ignorant knee jerk. I know it's hot out guys, looks like the sun is cooking some brains.

Until this trade, most Sens fans had never heard of Mehot, and 99.9% of them did not see him play or if the Sens played Columbus paid zippo attention.

Do the poll at the end of the season. Dog days of summer indeed.

It's a 2nd/3rd line 'twener for a 4/5th defenseman.

They will probably even be playing for the same amount of money next season.

I kind of agree with danishh though, I wish that, for once, we'd get a good deal.

That's kind of the point of it. To see how we view it now and then how we view it at the end of the yr. Opinions can change and that's ok. I don't like it now but am fully prepared to admit it was a good deal if it works out somehow.

It was a 'good' trade.

Would've picked it was a fair deal if that was an option.
