Anaheim just signed Souray 3 years for 3.6 per year.

Yikes.

Remember when no one wanted him for one year at 2.7 million?

Now he is almost 36 years old and he gets a three year deal at 3.66 million?

$3.6 mil to clear the crease and shoot howitzers. Can't say I'm sold...

At least we're getting bigger...

I have a feeling the Ducks are going to regret this one.

I'm dumbfounded that we got rid of Visnovsky to sign Souray....

Is this part of some master plan to get the 1st overall next season?

Not gonna be a dick but I thought Anaheim was a ''budget team''? Allen and Souray are both good/decent D-men but Souray is obviously past his prime and he is 35 (turns 36 soon) and he got a 3 year deal worth $3.6 million. I get that you traded Visnovsky which opened up some capspace but spending $7.1 million on Allen and Souray longterm doesn't seem that great tbh.

Sorry for being blunt. I hope they work out for you guys, I really do. I'm just surprised I guess that someone like Souray (given age, production etc) can get a 3 year deal worth closely to what Staal or Girardi makes.

The Allen deal was good, this just screwed it up imo.

If this is supposed to be a Visnovsky replacement then I feel for Ducks fans. Honestly should've just signed Allen and then a bottom pairing guy to replace Brookbank.

In the Souray thread from a few days ago I remember danishh called Anaheim for Souray.

That's a strange deal.

My thoughts exactly. He was good for the first month and a bit last year, then pretty ho-hum the rest of the way. And those concrete feet won't be getting any quicker over that term.

Well at least some entertainment might come out of this. Mixing a drama queen like Souray and Anaheim's management and it shouldn't disappoint.

You signed Allen too. Both guys come in at just slightly over what Lubo made, so essentially you got deeper for slightly more money. Rather than keeping Lubo and signing a depth guy like Rome for 1.5 and still be around the same number.

Ducks got deeper on the backend while grabbing two guys who can provide stability on both sides of the puck. I woulda offered Souray 3 million per for 2 years if we didn't grab Garrison.

Why would they let Visnovsky go for Souray? This is an odd deal for the Ducks. Just have to wait and see I guess... He played decently for the Stars, but I don't know if his play warranted a contract like this.

Wow. And it's a 35+ contract, too. Ducks needed more D-men badly, but that could turn out ugly.

Anaheim has really gone downhill since Murray took over for Burke.

Visnovsky, Ryan, Schultz, Carlyle, Souray...
