Matt Greene

Congratulations on your Stanley Cup.

Would you be interested in Brodziak, Clutterbuck or Stoner as a start for something?

I don't see the Kings trading any core players, especially Greene who is coming off by far his best season as a pro.

I would hope Greener is not for sale at this time, period.

But reading this thread makes me think...

The Kings are lucky.
Greene and Martinez are both such fine D-Men. And they comprise
our frikkin' 3rd pair.

All I can say is:

Eat your hearts out, rest of NHL.

With the emergence of voynov, the addition of Carter, and the return of Gagne, the kings have a roster in which there are no holes. Usually a team will trade from a position of strength to address a position of weakness. Without a prospect to replace what Greene brings to his current team, a trade involving him is pointless. Especially when there are no glaring issues that need to be addressed.

But for the sake of discussion, a straight up swap for Clutterbuck would be fair value.

If Minny really wanted Greene, I think the kings would consider Greene + King for Clutterbuck + 1st

Need any FWs?

WildFinn,

I doubt Greener is available (at least this year). However, we have a talented FW
who played in Sweden last year, is under-appreciated & under-rated
by our Mgmt, and might be available for a super-cheap price.

His name is Bud Holloway.

Due to him being a bit out-of-favor for going overseas to play in 2011-12,
I'll bet our GM would move him for a modest price.

Many of our fans don't like him, either.
But they are wrong.

Mark my words,
He will be a good NHL player.

But not for us.

WildFinn:You know who you really want? Thomas Hickey

He hits like the mafia.

His shot goes through goalies then through the net then through the boards, then through the building, and through two cars in the parking lot before gently resting next to a swadled infant.

His defensive coverage is like a condom protected at all times with the illusion that nothing is really there.

He quarterbacks a power play like Jerry Rice.

He skates faster than a Toyota Prius.

And he's a level five mage.

Well Bud has just as cool name like Cal and seems interesting.

But Greene is what we could really use in our team, he brings toughness, experience, leadership and is best friends with Parise.

Who he really wants is Jake Muzzin. Muzzin has better hands and skates better than Greene and will in time I believe become a better pro D. Not as physical as MG but then MG will never be seen as a two way pmd who is very effective in his own end.

The return wouldn't be a Clutterbuck but it would have to be good.

Not bad offers by the way OP.

Greene + Clifford + Loktionov OR Richardson

for Clutterbuck + 1st

I do that kind of deal.

Greene for Clutterbuck is good (fair) value, but this trade is unnecessary.

Not sure any of these trades make the Kings better. The Kings are already tough, already have a great D, and already have plenty of scoring. The only way I see a regular roster player being traded before the season is if someone knocks DL's socks off with an offer. Clutterbuck is a fantastic player, but he doesn't really address an area of need.

It's not the best time to try and pry a tough, stay at home type away from the Kings because they are our oldest part of our roster. Scuderi is up after next year, and Greene/Mitchell the year after that. The pipeline isn't exactly overflowing with these types, but the hope is guys like Campbell, Muzzin, and Forbort can fill those roles. I'm personally hoping at least two of them step up, but it's likely the Kings will be looking for the same type of player a couple years down the road.

Whether or not he is going to be an NHL player, he is still worth nothing. There is no modest price for Holloway.

You probably would have had him if you said Joe Montana.

We're going to need to keep Muzzin for ourselves, along with Forbort. They have the kind of size and mobility to take the places of Scuderi/Mitchell/Greene somewhere down the line.

I agree. But a Muzzin for Clutterbuck based deal would benefit both of us.

Muzzin is next D on my list to make the team and help us get a little younger and more mobile to boot. Also remember he is losing his waiver exemption so if the right deal came along.....

Agreed that MIN should be interested in Muzzin, or maybe Drewiske who is more or less a hometown boy there.

I don't see how a Muzzin for Clutterbuck deal benefits Minnesota at all.

CC is a unique talent, they could get more than a 23 year old AHL player for him. I would love him on the Kings, but we would have to give up Martinez to get him, not sure I want to do that.

A Muzzin for Clutterbuck "based" deal is what was said.

Trevor Lewis would likely have to be included in a deal for Clutterbuck as Cal would be taking his spot on the team.

The one thing about Lewis that would make me hesitant to trade him is his ability to elevate his game when the stakes get high. 23pts in 155 games isn't much at all, but 13pts in 26 playoff games is.

I also remember the game when Anze went down. When the Kings were visibly shaken, Lewis was the one who tried to make things happen. He had 8 points that season until then, then got 9 points in the last 14 games of the season (incl. playoffs).

I would have to think long and hard before I included him in a trade, and as good as Clutterbuck is I'm not so sure he is an upgrade over the Lewis we see in the big games. That would be a tough trade to make.

I wouldn't want to trade Lewis either, but I bet that's who they look at if they move Clutterbuck off their roster. I'm happy with the current makeup of the team with no changes.

I would be ok with tradeing greene we have alot of defenseman coming up that need a chance to play. However the only way id trade him is if we re getting a 1st round pick coming back, I dont think we should be going in any draft without a frist especially a deep one like 13 is suposed to be. It is due to the fact we built thru the draft is the reason we have a deep team as we do. Draft picks will be the key to keeping this team a contender for years to come. We need young cheap talent coming up to replace young talent that will need raises soon.
