Haha, is that new thing?? Punching the guy who hit the game winner, walkoff??? I have noticed that this year. You can see Pedro throwing a couple into Sutton's midsection.
It is kinda funny to follow this thread as a baseball ignoramus .
The very absence of expectation makes Pirates fans' delight in the teams success that more joyous and... well... pure in a sense, compared to how we treat the Pens success or lack of it... or - from what I can gather - the Steelers.

Has a different sort of charm, is all.
Agreed. That makes those holding out until they actually win something definitive, unfortunate.
As there is no better time to be a fan of a team as when they are doing well, when they aren't/weren't expected to do so. Nothing better.
When a team gets so good they are expected to win, that when they actually do it is great, but sometimes more in terms of relief.
Now is a fun time, hopefully we can keep it going. I think we can.
Yeah, we appreciate new success much more than Steelers and Pens. High expectations with Pens and Steelers but alot of fun to watch Bucs winning games.
On my way home from work was listening to the fan and they were talking about the game. I hate watching the replayof the of game, but they made it sound so good I'm watching it now. Great to hear they had an amazing comeback.

Game is at 1:00 PM today, don't miss it. I haven't felt like this about a Bucs team in 20 years. It's like watching a feel good sports documentary as it happens.
Quote from the AP national column today. They're starting to notice.
Of course, the Pirates aren't counting on a journeyman like Sutton to carry the load. That role falls to the 25-year-old McCutchen, who doesn't get as much attention as the Hamiltons and Harpers of the world but is every bit the ballplayer they are - and then some. He's leading the NL with a .360 average, ranks among the top 10 in homers (16) and RBIs (54), and is pacing his team with 14 stolen bases.
He is an MVP in the making if the Pirates can stay in the playoff race.
