Closed until official confirmation.

Can't believe the thread on main board is still open.

NHL radio called it several times, so that's good enough for me.

Someone please throw a link in as soon as you find one.

Don't understand why we signed him for 2 years.

Because Theodore is gone after next season.

That meant no Brodeur, so I was bummed, but he's alright and should do well.

And it shows a lot of faith in Markstrom AND Clemmer. Cause after next season, that means they most likely plan on making Clemmer the starter but probably him only getting around 45-50 starts with Markstrom getting the remainder to let Markie ease his way into the league.

Not sure what you mean by this..

I would have absolutely no issue with Markie being groomed by Clemmer in a year. Everything I read about him says he's a true hard worker and top-notch pro, which are just as important as talent in this league (especially concerning development!)

I can't see Tallon willing to sacrifice the 2013-14 season like that.

Maybe if they can get rid of the shoot-out in the new CBA...

I don't think Clemmer will ever be a starter and don't want to see it either. Obviously it will depend on how Jose does next year and whether he seems to be slowing down or not but I see us trying to move Clemmer after this coming season. He is a capable back-up and there are always teams looking for that.

Clem is a good backup and nothing more. His attempts to be a starter here has not worked out well. Overplaying him results in bad play, he certainly isn't capable of playing a back to back, and yeah don't get me started on his shootout skills.

That said, I am happy to have him back. I will be shocked if the following season the tandem is Clem-Markstrom, unless somehow Marky is the starter. Even then, hard to imagine. Assuming Theo does well, no one said he couldn't re-sign for another year.

Well lets not forget that Luongo is still somehow a possibility.

I'm happy that Clemmer was brought back as he's a very capable backup, but I don't ever see him as our starter. If Luongo isn't a Panther again, depending on how Markstrom does this season I'd assume would either make him the starter next season or maybe they'd re-sign Theodore for a year or so or dip into the free agency market.

Lol Clemmenson will never appear in 45-50 games in a season and he'll certainly never be a starter.

I have a feeling Theo has said he wants to retire after next season to Dale Tallon. That's the only explanation for Clemmenson getting two years and not one.

Well, he basically did it one time.
I didn't really care to have him back (simply because I think backup goalies are replaceable), but Clemmensen is rather underrated with the fanbase. You're not going to find too many backups who are better and we certainly don't make the playoffs without him last year. He played in 30 games so it's not as if it was an incredibly short sample either.

With that said, I think the actual plan is for Markstrom to start next year with Clemmer getting his 30 games, not the other way around.

Unless we acquire Luongo. Every time Tallon speaks, it seems like he couldn't care less about acquiring a goalie, but just about every legit source thinks we're the frontrunners in the Luongo sweepstakes; thus, I still think there's something going on with that.

That would leave Markstrom off the roster again next year, barring a trade. I highly doubt that's already the plan.

Seems like this is Theo's last year (at least here anyway, not sure if he'd go play with another team).

My point is Theodore was better than Clemmenson in every category last year and played in over 50 games. Doesn't make make sense giving Clemmenson an extra year over him if he doesn't plan to retire.

Clemmer is only making what, 1.3 mill? Signing him for two years is nothing and he might have only wanted to sign a two year min deal.
