Brodeur said he didn't want to have to answer questions again all next season about possibly retiring.
Also, Brodeur wanted to be sure he'd play again, even if there is some kind of lockout in 2012-13.
Brodeur said he will definitely play through the end of the contract even if there is a lockout.
Saugus, this is a HUGE statement considering what he said in the past regarding a lockout.
Now I'm not so concerned anymore about it should it occur.
Brodeur wasn't ready to say this is definitely his last contract.
Brodeur said all offers he received were for 2 years. He would not have left Devils for a 1-year deal.
Jesus, Marty. Not your last contract? How long are you planning to play?
I think after he fulfills this contract, he'll be taking it on a year-by-year basis, IMO. Depending on how he feels, and whether his game has deteriorated to the point where the team cannot be Cup contenders with him between the pipes. Marty's Legacy is secure so anything he does short of committing a crime off the ice(which is about as likely as Sean Avery giving Marty a real compliment and being sincere about it), won't be affected by anything he does in his twilight years.
