Chicago already has a full team worth of players under contract so they can use every cent of their cap space plus whatever is sent down to Peoria (they're Peoria right? Maybe not...).

Im such a big ball of negativity & bitterness today (because of my job, not this FA situation) that I think Ive wrote & erased about 10 posts because they're all debbie downers...

I just have this gut feeling that Parise is just paying us lip service. Like he feels if he makes us think we're in it til the bitter end we wont be so upset when he goes somewhere else...

I mean Im totally just speculating but as Ive said many times, I just dont see our appeal... All the contracts are going to be so similar that I think it just comes down to the best chance to win & when it comes to that I see us so far down that list... If you go that route I'd say it's:

Pittsburgh
Detroit - (if they also get Suter)
Philly
Chicago or New Jersey( I mean hell they almost did this year)
any other team still in the running
Minnesota...

Like Russo said once, once you get above that 7 mil+ contract level it's all about the same.. I hope Im wrong but I just dont see us being a fit for him...

Chicago should be a similar situation to Pitt though. I don't think either one of them is offering the #'s that the Wild is. We'll see...

They'd probably have to move a player. You have to think that he's getting at least $8M cap hit, so....I don't know. This whole thing is so confusing. On the other hand, we've heard little to nothing about Suter.

If he is going to be somewhere other then Minnesota for the rest of his career, why does he care if he ruffles a few feathers here in Minnesota. I really don't see why he would lie just to make us feel better.

They have over $7MM in space with 23 players. Frolik could be sent to Rockford for $2.3MM. Hjalmarsson is rumored to be gone via trade this offseason. They have several options.

Some players don't want to sign with a team full of stars, and would rather be a part of making a franchise successful. Something Parise would for sure do here. The Wild have a good upside and anyone coming in now has a chance to be part of it, rather than tagging along for the ride in other franchises.

This is true. And the plot just keeps getting more and more murky if you ask me. Everybody's great sources know where he's going to play. Hjalmarsson is a $4M cap hit or Frolik would have plenty of space. I guess just about any team could get him at this point and make it work out of the rumored teams to be "in it."

My take on what's happening:

Parise's had 3 teams he's favored after last night, I've stated those to be Pittsburgh, Minnesota, and New Jersey. Today, Parise's camp is now having phone conversations with multiple teams all in the "mix", if you will. Those teams subsequently go back and inform their media outlets that they have spoken with the Parise camp and feel like they have a chance. Now, you have a whole bunch of beat writers portraying that their team is in the fold and combine that with the rumored very short list (2-3 teams), people are jumping to conclusions.

With the teams left, Parise's camp isn't going to specifically tell which teams are in and out. They'll find out when he announces who he's signing with...

I still believe it'll be one of Pittsburgh, Minnesota, or New Jersey.

That's one of the more interesting relationships with the Wolves and Blackhawks being in the same metro.

I'm curious to see how much he actually ends up with as a dollar amount. What's the highest amount ever given to a player? (total amount, not cap hit) Or has anyone ever been given the max cap hit?

Honestly?

I'll ***** up a major storm about his contract, should he sign with the Wild.

Do. Not. Want.

At this point, I'm more concerned about if he were to actually sign with the Wild than what happens if he doesn't...

/sigh
