I said it this past winter and got shot down by the ColdSteel's and Panzer's of our board but if you don't draft well and have great prospects, you end up paying out the ass for sub par NHL players.
David Jones, Hudler, PA, Garrison, Prust, Salo, and Samuelson all getting waaaay over paid.
In reality a happy medium is the ideal. To succeed you need success in free agency as well as via the draft.

Those of us staked out at Zach Parise's agent's office have no end in sight. His agent says they're still pondering
Just decide.. do not continue to drag this on.

Still don't really want Parise, just too top heavy at that point. Too many other holes.

Well, the concensous was that Parise was going to sign before Suter.. if Parise doesn't sign until later tonight - if he even does sign tonight - it'll be at least another day before Suter does..
I can't remember the last time the two biggest fish in free-agency took this long to sign.

I think Bowman's working under the adage that the best defense is a good offense.

If it came down to signing Parise or Suter, assuming we had a choice if both were interested, I would take Suter. It would be nice if his dad & uncle could persuade him to come here, but I'm not holding out hope.

I'm also talking about the financial structure of the organization. ANother big, long contract (never was a fan of the huge long term deals) is just not smart, especially with the wing prospects we have coming up through the pipeline.

Actually, I think Leddy is from minnesota and they share the same agent. perhaps the opportunity to play with THE nick leddy would be enticing to suter.
eta: apparently mtl is taking a pass on jagr.

i'm surprised (well, maybe i'm not) that he wants $4m/yr. that's high for him.

I'm getting word that Zach Parise and Ryan Suter will both be signing contracts at some point in the future. Stay tuned.

eh, they both have rodents representing their flagship universities, so they might as well just be the same state of East Dakota.

don't get my hopes high, but sign Parise and trade Stalberg after that for a 1st or Bernier. Bubba would be were happy
Sharp, Parise, Bickell, Carcillo as LWs
Kane, Hossa, Shaw, Mayers as RWs
with many promising prospects waiting for their chance...
This wouldn't even include Frolik or Stalberg

So, um... the main board seem to be thinking that it's down to between New Jersey and Pittsburgh now?

Maybe the SSM and NoDak lineage will reunite Toews / Parise and Uncle Gary will get Suter to the NHL team closest to Madtown!?

Hawks are more in it than ever.
Pittsburgh fans saying that their beat writer who tweeted about Pitt + NJ is essentially their version of Jaeckel.

Strickland, Rogers and Kuc have all said they've heard Chicago is one of the final two teams.. I think that's enough to suggest, at the very least, Chicago is in there giving their best offer.
