If his wife does not want to leave NJ, then Zach isn't going to leave NJ. It's that simple.
She doesn't have the ultimate say. Zach does. He's going home to sell her on something involving a change. If he got an offer hat was good and considering he has always sad he wanted to stay in NJ, this nonsense would be over.

I think he's a goner.

To tell everyone not to keep tracking for today and that there will be no news. Actually a somewhat considerate thing to be direct in not expecting anything today. Could have said nothing and left people speculating/following leads all night for nothing.

You can look at this a thousand different ways and come up with just as much speculation. But we have no idea. Don't over-complicate it.

It is a really tough decision.

I don't think our budget is necessarily THAT low, not after the deals we just gave Hedberg and Brodeur. We're paying Kovalchuk something like 11M real dollars this year and the cap is reaching an absolutely absurd level. I don't doubt our finances might not be brilliant, but i don't think we're a cap floor team or necessarily destitute. If we spent to the cap (70M) and you factor in Kovalchuks frontloading + whatever frontloading is necessary to acquire Zach, we'd be spending somewhere around 78-80M in REAL dollars which i don't think would be sustainable for many teams in this league.

I don't think we're necessarily loaded, but i doubt we're "poor" either. I think people are getting a little ahead of themselves with the financial doom and gloom predictions.

Parise grew up with the Devils, even if he narrowed it down to one team already, he wouldn't say anything to the media until it's official.

And yet people faulted Scotty Nieds for waiting three days lol. I do agree though, ultimately you can't go along with a preconceived notion that everything has to be decided in the first day or two to accomodate other teams.

To me, publicly not eliminating the Devils or any other team is beneficial to his situation. Teams will continue to outbid each other not knowing if they are out. Parise will keep getting better offers and he really shouldn't make a decision until the offers stop coming in. He's being coached by some scoundrel huckster agents and they are in his ear all day. I think getting away from them is a good thing.

Just because he wouldn't say, doesn't mean there was no progress. He just doesn't want to tip his hand except to continue saying that the Devils are still in it.

I'm with you on this. Getting really bad vibes. He wouldn't need to talk about staying in NJ with his family. That would be "status quo".

And if he FAILS to convince her, is the wedding off?

I don't think he wants to leave either.

But playing with Chicago or Pittsburgh seems more intriguing talent-wise. I wouldn't really disagree either.

If he does leave I hope we get back Sykora. That will be 52 goals we lost. I don't doubt we will be competitive if everyone is healthy. Zajac may be able to replace a lot of Zach's production, and we have a 4th line that might be good for points.

What are you talking about? The reasoning here is very simple. This is Parise's decision, plain and simple, and he has every right to take a couple days to mull things over.

Why are you, a poster on a message board, entitled to a quick decision from Parise? Get on with your life and do other things in the mean time.
