My feeling is that he does want to stay in NJ but he is getting huge offers from these other teams, way more than he probably even expected. I think he's mulling over whether he should take the money and run or stay in NJ for less than what he's being offered.
You guys jumping all over the Location change as for the reason he is going to talk to her.
Ummm those of you who are married what do you think your wife would do if u just decided on something like this? Regardless if it means you move or stay where you are?
I never said it was. The only good thing about this is that many other FA's still haven't signed yet, which wasn't the case for Niedermayer.
The ones that have I wouldn't want anyway, not at what they signed for. Would you want Parenteau at a 4-16 or a Hudler at whatever he signed for (I know it was 4-5 million per on a multi-year deal? We don't even know if these guys can play outside of their current situation.
Over speculation here, this is a tough choice with some offers with A LOT of money, and he is probably still grappling with the idea of staying, and taking less up front to do so. Even if he wants to stay here, it isn't an easy choice to pass up tons of money and security.
Or this is all lip service and his agents are trying to squeeze more out of a few teams. There is nothing to really take out of this. Nice that he is still talking to Marty though.
It's really easy to read into this either way, but the reality is we're not sure which it is.
We have no idea what our offer is, but we're pretty confident that it is lower than other teams'. So we have to sell Parise on the familiarity of his life here, and the continued competitiveness of the team.

Watch it be LA lol, maybe Dean did learn a lesson after all.
That would be the ultimate troll job.
LA has moved on from Parise, I don't see Dean increasing his offer. King is the only player from last year that needs a contract and he is a 22 year old RFA that won't get much of a raise.
Not really talent wise but I have always suspected Zach would rather play on a team that is top dog in the area and don't have to fight for coverage, just basing it off comments he has made over the years.
I meant more of the hype of the talent. Everyone talks about Kane and Toews or Malkin and Crosby. Who wouldn't want to create a new dreamteam? Does that count as the same thing you're saying? I'd call it an overlap.
And my counter to Zach is, "Better the Devil you know than the devil you don't."

People are forgetting where he is in life. He's 27. He's about to get married. He's not talking about a 2-3 year contract where its a short-term decision by nature. He has to decide where him and his wife want to settle down, where they would want to have/raise kids, and really make their living. Its not as simple as where do you want to go for a couple of years, or purely an on-ice decision. Understandable why he couldn't decide 20 minutes into free agency.

That's why we need to chill just a tad. Your right we don't know what our offer is, what the budget is, or even if it was Lou's best offer. We can guess and assume until the cows come up. It is most likely less (definitely less then what the Wild are offering I imagine) but it being less doesn't mean it won't be enough.

She would tell me that she is fine with whatever decision I make.
I realize Zach has known this day was coming for a long time, but these are extremely complicated contracts, and he is only now receiving offers to compare--some of them he probably did not expect (Chicago?). It's a huge decision and not one you would expect anyone to make in a matter of a few days.
He will do what is right for him and his family, and the Devs will either get him or someone else of equivalent value, as long as Lou keeps his business hat on.
I just hope he goes to Chicago if he doesn't resign with us; that way i can show up to every game in my Zajac jersey and make him feel guilty about abandoning his friend.
