Less than it would cost for Luongo but I still think that's the guy Chicago needs to go after if they can get past.....
I'm actually unsure how keen Minnesota are on trading Backstrom. They are rebuilding but at the same time, they want playoff hockey and Backstrom is the starter for at least an year until someone else takes over. I don't move Backstrom this yr if I'm Minnesota, I try to make the playoffs with him and see where it goes from there....trade deadline maybe I consider it if Hackett or Harding steal the job.
Backstrom wont be traded to as a "cap dump" so if thats what you're looking for, its not worth the time. I have to believe that Fletcher now sees the Wild as a playoff team so, you have to look at the value of a quality starting goalie of a playoff team.
Player wise- I could see Fletcher adding to get Sharp or Chicago having to add to guys like a Leddy or Saad.
Guessing that your interest in Backstrom probably just took a hit?

A goalie with only one year left on his contract isn't worth as much as you think, especially when he isn't great to begin with. Good goalie, a bit pricey at $6M, but with only one year left on the contract, his value isn't all that high.
But as you've said, Minny is ready to win now and thus might want to keep him. Personally I don't see a big gap (if there is one at all) between him and Harding, but Harding is pretty injury-prone so that could be it right there.
I think Leddy would have to come back for sure, after that, who knows
Again, older goalies being paid a ton who are nothing more than simply "pretty good" aren't worth a player like that when they have only one year remaining on contract.
I don't see the Wild trade their #1 goalie away after adding Heatley & Seto last year and Parise & Suter this year. They want to win now and Backstrom gives them the best chance to win now

And the Wild have no reason to trade Backstrom now. I understand that reasoning, but I definitely think Leddy would have to be involved, even if it was just him, if the Wild are going to give up Backstrom.

Maybe this will put an end to this discussion rather quickly but, I am very confident in saying that Chicago would have to ADD a pretty significant piece to Leddy to get Backstrom out of Minnesota.
You can argue "fair value" all you want, and be right with alot of your points, but Minnesota isnt looking for value and probably isnt even thinking about moving Backstrom right now.
No, the value isnt that close, but you have Leddy on the wrong side of it. A bottom pairing Dman who has the potential to max out as a good #3 isnt worth what you think he is.
Backstrom's not going anywhere unless it's for a gross overpayment. The plan has always been Backstrom starts this year going 1a 1b with Harding, Backstrom either retires, gets shipped off(possibly for cap space even though there aren't too many good resignings needed that year) or gets dealt at the deadline for something we need. Then Harding starts and gives Hackett a chance to get used to the pace of the NHL. That gets done and we see where we go from there. So unless there's some outrageous offer for Backstrom(Toews for Backs+Cullen, again the point is to be outrageous) it just won't happen.

So you want a top 5 player in the NHL for a 34 year old goalie that ranks around #12-18 at his position in the NHL who will either retire after this season or get shipped off for salary cap relief this trade deadline.
Wild are not looking to trade Backstrom, so it would absolutely take an overpayment on Chicago's part.
(or Kane or Toews straight up)
Even acknowledging that fact that it would take overpayment to get Backstrom to Chicago, suggesting that the price would be Kane or Toews is downright ludicrous.
