Thanks!

If he is "wanting them to take it to the next level", then it makes sense that they at least submitted offers to Parise/Suter, but to me it still doesn't explain the Zanon signing.

I think it's a little encouraging that even the Avs are waiting for dominoes, Avs included, because if they weren't planning anything else, I'm pretty sure that Sherman would have indicated that already

It's gonna be super funny when Parise signs in NJ and Suter in Nashville.

@eklund is Howson still asking the world for Nash? And if so how much longer do you think this can go on before other teams sour on the deal

Hockey Buzz Eklund Hockey Buzz Eklund ‏@Eklund

@2kinger he still very much is. After Parise signs and B Ryan is moved, he will have to drop asking price.

even Nash is in limbo until Parise decides, never seen the market frozen like this. this is just like the NBA during the last FA frenzy.

I'm pretty sure he and Ryder joined the Stars at the same time to be together (only 2 NHLers from Bonavista as far as I know).

Oh well, now the Sabres are the only team with 2 Newfies. (Luke Adam)

The NHL has been trending this direction for quite a few years. I'm not sure why everyone still gets their hopes up expecting an exciting first few days of free agency. Those days are long gone. Now, the top tier free agents sit around and let teams get desperate and bid against each other, and all the other middle-of-the-pack free agents can point to those inflated contracts as benchmarks for how much they should be getting paid. Pretty funny system.

On a related note, I don't like seeing the "oh c'mon guys, you had ALL SUMMER to think about this!" sentiment around the boards. They don't owe anyone a hasty decision. They've earned their free agency status, and it's their right to sit around and not sign a contract for as long as they want. I understand that it doesn't make for exciting news, but ... at least it gives us something to talk about in the summer, eh?

Howson is NOT going to get a return that he wants. It is as simple as that. The longer he holds out to trade Nash, the more frustrated GMs will become. The more frustrated GMs become, more teams will drop out of the race for Nash. The possible return will drop and drop until either Howson keeps Nash or "dumps" him (according to Howson's unreal expectations).

I mean, c'mon, Couture+++ for Nash?? That makes NO SENSE.

Sherman interview on The Fan today......

http://www.1043thefan.com/Channels/E...spx?ID=1731536

He says they have talked to Suter and Parise's representatives but then goes on to talk about the team having a plan and sticking to the plan that works them. Yesterday I think Dater said they made offers but today Sherman didn't anything about making an offer for either one of them.

Could be reading too much into what he was saying but it sounds like neither one of them are an option for the Avs.

Which part? The Sherman part? That's well known. The McNab part?

Oh I heard about Sherman making a pitch for Parise and Suter, but I was commenting on the McNab comment. Like I said, I am NOT going to get my hopes up (just because that is how I roll), but it is promising. Probably didn't hurt having Sakic talk to both of these guys.

Okay, now where did you hear that?

As far as I know, Sakic has only been asked to call Parenteau which he did at 12:01 PM EST yesterday.

I think they made an offer to see if they would be interested to help gauge how big players feel about the Avs, plus to get some info on where they may go. This could help them figure out who they should target the most. That's why them going aggressive at PAP early was a smart move, even if he's not as sexy as Parise or Semin.
