Best Tattoo shops/artists in Montreal

hey guys
looking for some opinions of some of the best artists/ shops around town.

I know Tattouage Artistique is a good place.

Im looking for someone who draws black with heavy shadowing. I dont know what you would call that specifically, cause i know some specialize in japanese art, some in old school influence, etc..

thanks!

I'm getting one in the next week or so, what are you getting?

I'm probably going to this place called SlickStyledSteel. Or something like that. I have a friend who swears by the guys there. I've seen his work too and it's impressive.

On that note (not to highjack your thread CB), anyone know any tattoo artists who are good with portraits?

There is a lot of good tattoo artist in Montreal first off it depends what type you want and all but to give you and idea ill give you 2 or 3 links also most artist charge around 100$ an hour or more so take that in mind.

http://www.tattoo-passion.com/annuaire_quebec.html

they have a list of good studio's there and most of them have galleries of their pieces so have a look and take your time to choose one.

Pol tattoo is the best by far, but there's a 1year waiting list for Pol himself, the other guy sucks but the girl is pretty good.

A year waiting list is kinda long for that guy. He's good, but i've friends with tattoos of similar quality and they didn't wait at all.

there is no way of answering this question without you answering a ton of questions.
depends what you want. depends how you want it. depends how much money you are willing to invest. depends how much time you are ready to invest. depends how much pain you are ready to endure.

remember, you will have the tattoo you deserve.

do some research. if you want a stencil generic tattoo, you can go at your uncle bob's tattoo parlor and get it done. you can also open a box of Capn Crunch and get one like that.

if you want some REAL work, you need to figure what you want, and how. The most respected tattoo artists in the businees are the custom artists. they will create a unique tattoo for you, following guidelines or ideas that YOU will have put together. There are as many tattooing styles as there are artists. its entirely up to you to figure out what you want and need. Some artists are better at some styles than others (ie Black/ shading/ realist/ color/ sleeves/ backs/ legs).

my suggestion to you is to have a CLEAR idea of what you want, with or without a sketch or w/e, and be able to explain where/ what u want, and what you expect from the work you want done. From that point on, it is your resposibility to shop around, go through portfolios and ask questions to artists if u can, or snoop around tattoo parlours around the city.

I can name a good dozen artists in and around Montreal, but i dont want to make your job easy, and i dont want to generate free publicity. and most of all i dont want to forget any.

My best bet: tattoo convention. if youre serious about it, you will take the steps necessary to a successful and worthwhile tattoo.

my 2 cents.

ps: youll get the tattoo you deserve, remember that.

Pol is awesome, however, you have thouroughly lost all credibility by saying it in such words.

If you're looking for customs work and not to pick out of a book ... Jose from pellenuova.com is one of Montreal's greatest and will take the time to work with you on your concept. I've had 3 pieces done from him and with all of them he really help get the art just right before any needle touched my skin.

Good Luck

That guy at pellnuova has a sweet portfolio.

I'm looking as well, want to get an old tat covered with a very simple, clean design I have in mind. Always worried the other one will show through, especially because for whatever reason it is raised a bit from the skin surface.

Anyone have any tats covered?

Tattoo Mania! Great team. You will probably be able to find what you want there.

There's also PSC Tattoo (I'm getting tattooed there at the end of the summer).

Price: $125/hour

FANTASTIC artist and he's very chill. He's done three pieces for my wife already and he covered up my ****** little guitar tattoo with a scorpion. He is very professional, and I have always left happy, as well as my wife too.

Here's his portfolio: http://www.excentrik.ca/fr/tatouage-...ckmorency.html

Got a tattoo from Olivier, from Glamort.
http://www.glamort.com/

All of them are good, Yann Black (yourmeatismine) like Jee said works there.

I go to Adrenaline and my guy is Ron, great skill (did tats on Sheldon Souray (who still comes down to get inked by him) & Josh Gorges that I know of).

Adrenaline is a lil pricey but when you can eat off the floors you feel comfortable and safe! Worth every penny if you ask me!

I'd recommend Nima or Safwan from Imago on Prince Arthur. 2 of Montreal's up and coming artists. The place is great and very professional. I think both have more of a new-school style if i can say but their work is amazing.

edit: they just opened up a new place on St-Laurent
