Regier doesnt make trades like this. I wonder if the market was that far down on Roy.

Great deal for the Stars. Think Buffalo should and could of gotten a lot more for Roy.

I think if Roy was signed beyond next year he may have had more value.

Happy that Roy is gone, essentially making Buffalo weaker offensively.

Disturbed that I now have to put up with Ott 6 times a year.

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun

Talks between Dallas and Buff go back to February before trade deadline. Once Ribeiro got dealt last week, created a hole at center for Dal

Ahaha Ahaha Sabres are pathetic . Stars ripped them off. Gotta love trading top 6 centers for 3rd line pests.

Dallas just stacking themself with talented centers with Whitney and Roy. They dispose of mediocre dman in Pardy and 3rd liner in Ott

Good point. Roy wouldn't have resigned in Buffalo, anyway.... Wow.

Roy hasn't been a legitimate 1st liner for a few years now.

Stars win this IMO. Roy's very underrated. I like Ott though, good agitator but I don't see the need for him with a guy like Foligno. Neither are going to be top-6 forwards, more like top-9.

Roy represented everything that was wrong with the current Sabres. Small, soft and questionable attitude. He needed to go. I think he'll do really well in Dallas though.

Roy can fill in on the 1st line if he has to but he is a good 2nd line C

Seems like a really odd deal from BUFF point of view. They were already light at center (IMO), and while I like Ott, seems like they're betting the farm on Hodgson & Ennis as scoring line centers, which is a big step up for them. It'll be interesting to see how that shakes out.

And apparently Roy's value isn't anywhere close to where many thought it was, if he gets traded for Ott & a throw-in.

No Sabres fan thought Roy was the primary piece in a Ryan deal. It would have been Roy ++...

Anyway, every Sabres fan and radio guy LOVES this. This should give you an idea of what Roy is, and how he is thought of.

Is this really true?

Could the Flames not have given a better offer? Something around Glencross maybe?

I don't think this is very good for Buffalo, but they do have a bunch of young centres coming up soon. Still, I think they could have gotten more.
