He made it clear he didn't want to get scratched because Dale Hunter is an xenophobic tool.
Then show me where he said that. This is what Kuz said:
"It's tough to say. But firstly I really want to make the Olympics. I think we have a very strong team and I will continue to gain more experience and progress with the team. I am not ready to go to the NHL right now."
Q: When you say you're not ready for the NHL, maybe you are talking about the new system the Capitals have implemented?
"To be honest with you I don't know anything about that system. It was a tough decision to make. I spoke with my parents, my wife. And I decided to stay."
Oh, and I had a brainfart..
And WTF are you talking about way long before the playoffs, Game 7 against the Bruins was April 24th.
However, while he announced the decision on May 1, on April 20, he had said he had made the decision "a long time ago."
If you're going to speculate, I suggest you do it based on what the player actually has said, rather than simply your own biases.

Confirmed, didn't see Kostenko. I'm guessing Kostenko may have been doing some of the off-ce paperwork and testing that the other players went through yesterday.
I tweeted the forward combos after each group took the ice:
For Group A: Harris was gray and Bailey was red.
For Group B: Matches my notes/info.
Not going to make it to the scrimmage either, for now the positions on certain lines are still undetermined as to how they will line-up this afternoon, but the combos should be as above with the two guys swapped out per my notes.
