I'm not crazy about teammates fighting, but I think Rissling would whip Wilson. Rissling is more filled out(though still has room to grow himself), and was more impressive in the videos I watched.

Tate was pretty impressive, but also has a lot of room to fill out.

A lot of the college guys fought some in junior leagues. I like the added toughness, and like that it's all guys that would be players first. Rissling might be an enforcer type, but he even showed potential as a player.

It's possible Rissling and Wilson could be the top 2 fighters in the NHL in 3-4 years. Both have huge upside, both have frames that could add more weight, and both look like they have a chance to actually play.

I love Hendricks, but I don't see any reason why guys like Ryan Carter and Rene Bourque won't keep taking runs at our star players and injuring them again this season.

Thanks for the corrections, sk8. I was a bit fuzzy on where the invites fit in on red and grey in Group A.

Anyone going to the scrimmage? Any updates/observations would be much appreciated.

Just saw the Kostenko news tweeted about Wed., so there's that update.

Some other non-player camp updates:

Kolzig, Prior and Mahoney watched both groups from the stands; CalleJo watched the second group with them.

Group A: Oates, French and Mann on the ice
Group B: Oates, Courville (Reading coach), and 2 others (I think one was B. Forsythe)

I can't remember. Do they post videos of the scrimmages at all?

You won't see me making any player observations in print after day 1. If I see a few days this week, then I will. No question there is an age difference and a League difference watching these guys on day 1. Some of these guys also are familiar with some of the staff and the facilities from prior camps, although none with Oates, of course, unless someone has attended a NJD camp.

Fun just watching the drills and how the day went today. No herbies or anything of the sort under Oates' watch today.

Also, John Carlson was watching group B with some of the staff and media.

I missed CalleJo? Bah. Didn't pay much attention to that group after the first session--just assumed it was the same.

I'm not on twitter as of yet. I can't imagine that I'd actually keep up with tweeting, so I don't see much of a point. The only accounts I really peruse are informational - McKenzie, Dreger, etc.

Check Japers' Rink tomorrow morning. He'll have some linked, I'm sure.

Also of note, the prospects in the non-practicing group were taking profile pics in a Caps jersey. So those should surface at some point this week, I'd think.

I was mostly kidding, though if you do know of a good source for individual assessments (no credentials necessary) I'd be interested to hear it.

Day 1 is still in progress. There were a few people there with cameras, I'm sure some people will post pictures. If not found or linked before I imagine you will find them linked at JapersRink tomorrow morning.

Yes, they were taking the pics in red jerseys down on the end. Sorry, I posted without seeing your reply about the Rink.

As to twitter, just a question, curious because I was tweeting out the group lines and hoped someone here followed and would post it. Anyway, moving on. I'm sure someone will be at the scrimmage this afternoon.

This has to be sk8bots favorite time of the year with all that investigative research that tracking down the invites to the dev camp . Joking around always appreciate the info you find.

I use my twitter as basically a news feed...it is great for that. Should probably create a 2nd account for just a personal one but I rarely tweet.

That's what I did for a year, I think I tweeted 4 times the first year I had twitter. I don't use it for much personal stuff, other than tweeting back at some others I follow. It's a hockey twitter and the only one I have.

Ha, I've toyed with the idea of a skate?

Seriously, I have never had a pic or avatar anywhere; always said I wouldn't go that route unless the Caps won a Cup, but hey guess we can't wait that long.

I lied, I made it to part of the scrimmage after all.

#Caps‬ scrimmage day 1 team white d pairs (not l/r sides just pairs):
Rissling Djoos
Wietecha Schilling
Schmidt Carrick
Quinn Chartrain

The red D was more of a challenge due to the extra dman causing a rotation and the fact they didn't switch sides after the break.

Forsberg played RW with Civitarese at center.
