Just assuming they sign Grigorenko (which seems likely) I think they do this (contingent on the fact Grigs looks good in camp, preseason, etc)

Start with Grigs on the roster, Ott on the wing, and let Grigs play his 9 games, see how he does, and if he plays well enough, keep him up, if not, move Ott to center, and send Grigs back to Quebec.

Option 1:

Leino-Hodgson-Pominville
Vanek-Girgorenko-Ott
Foligno-Ennis-Stafford
Gerbe-McCormick-Tropp/Scott

Option 2:

Vanek-Hodgson-Tropp
Leino-Ott-Pominville
Foligno-Ennis-Stafford
Gerbe-McCormick-Scott/Ellis

I think option 2 is more likely, which is why I think they're still trying to make a move for another forward (Nash or Ryan), they have a lot of defensemen right now, but Darcy also likes that.

Does anyone honestly believe this is a Cup contender line-up?

vanek-hodgson-pominville
leino-ennis-stafford
foligno-ott-gerbe
tropp-mccormick-kaleta
Do you want to eventually win Cups or do you want them to do it wrong in the near-term by rushing some of their most valuable prospects?

I always took the 3 year plan as two-fold....

We need to be in contention after 3 years of moves.... Trades, drafts, FA.... So by this time next season if we aren't coming off a deep playoff run phase two of the 3 year plan kicks in....

Phase two is we ****can the coach and GM

I know ott takes faceoffs but he is a true winger from what I have read or am I totally wrong? I don't want another leino situation lol.

Honestly think adam makes the team before grigs out of camp, he got a bit of a bad rap but he has to be feeling the pressure this offseason and if he doesn't get in this year he will be burried with our depth.

Also our bottom line is going to have some real competition. Kaleta, mccormick, tropp, ellis, scott.

All of this doesn't matter because we will see way more roster movement in coming days.

Is everyone that down on Ennis?

I thought the Roy trade would have been perceived as a good move for his development

I don't think anyone is down on Ennis. We just traded a center and didn't get one in return. Losing Roy, Goose, and Hecht means losing a lot of dot experience.

It seems half of you guys are penciling in Grigs as part of our top 9.... I don't know if I'm comfortable doing that just yet....

He's wore 9 before 41 before 14 and 29

So my guess is 9 or 41 probably 9

Why no kaleta? If we get grigs I role
Vanek-Hodgson-Tropp/Ryan/Ott
Leino/Semin-Grigorenko-Pominville
Foligno-Ennis-Stafford
Gerbe-Ott/Mccormick-Kaleta

If we aquire Ryan or Semin I would use ott with gerbe and kaleta since they will get good ice time anyways and annoy the hell out of teams

Here is my guess for the starting lineup oktober 2012:

Nash - Hodgson - Ryan
Foligno - Getzlaf - Armia
Leino - Grigs - Ott
Gerbe - Hecht - Kaleta

Vanek, Stafford, and a second rounder for Nash.

Pominville, Ennis, Sekera and a first round pick, for Getzlaf, Ryan and a second rounder.

I thought we were trying to be realistic. Regardless the premise of the thread is what are the lines as of right now, not what will they be when the season starts.

Have to be kidding with Grigorenko and Hodgson as the top two centers. Yikes.

Well if you believe in some of the rumours which were around yesterday regarding us being in play for Ryan and Nash, then my lineup isn't that bad.
Regier said he wanna get bigger in the middle. So I believe he is just trying to get Ryan AND Getzlaf out of Anaheim.

A package including pomineville, Ennis, Sekera, Pysyk and a pick has the potential to get us Ryan and Getzlaf.

Also, that nash rumour doesn't get quite. The only way to get nash without selling our farm is trading Vanek. I guess Vanek, Staffor and a first round pick for Nash + salary dump could get the deal done.

I don't think that tonights roster is going to be the roster were're looking at pre- season.

...I guarantee that tonight's roster is much, much, much closer to what we have come October than your roster.

No G-Men:

Vanek - Hodgson - Tropp
Leino - Ott - Pominville
Foligno - Ennis - Stafford
Gerbe - McCormick - Kaleta

Lost some skill, but became harder to play against. Ott is a 3rd defensive piece alongside Leino and Pominville.

Both G-Men:

Vanek - Hodgson - Ott
Leino - Grigorenko - Pominville
Foligno - Ennis - Stafford
Gerbe - Girgensons - Kaleta

A lineup that looks more promising a few years down the line than this year, Ott replaces Tropp's physicality on the wing, Girgs is a 4th line checking center to replace Goose, and hopefully Grigs improves his two-way game under Pommer and Leino, while providing some offensive spark.

I like this setup (though I'm confident Ott will be used as a winger when Regier adds another center).

Each line has a banger. Tropp, Ott, Foligno and Kaleta, if healthy, could all finish in the top 20 in hits this year.

That's a nice blend of skill and physicality.

Adam is going to get a real long look at the 3rd line C spot this year I think. It might be sink or swim time for Adam.

What other choice do we have with the current roster?

It won't/shouldn't be Grigs, let the kid develop. Ott isn't a center.

Maybe a FA? Who's out there?

Ennis
Hodgson
Adam
McCormick

Its a few days into free agency. It's impossible to say if the 3 year plan is out the window until we see what the team looks like heading into camp.

Unlike in years past, there is a pretty good chance more changes are on the way.
