Well I decided to go look up every home game attendance figure and plot them. Now of course you can say that these numbers are inflated, but for our purposes that is irrelevant since the question is the overall trend. You would assume that they inflated the numbers equally from game to game.

Around the 9 game mark is when Gaglardi took over. You see a big corresponding rise. Then there is a rough patch about a third of the way through the season that mirrors the Stars losing their way out of the playoff picture. Of course next came their furious rebound up the standings which again spurred attendance before the final devastating collapse.

I'd say the overall picture is pretty clear: when the team has an owner and is not actively a disaster on the ice the attendance numbers are solid and trending upward.

James Neal brought Crosby and Chris Kunitz. Steve Ott brought Mike Weber and Adam Pardy. Sheldon Souray brought Cam Fowler.

Others included Shawn Horcoff. Dan Cleary. Ryane Clowe and the normal Stars. Daley Fistric Bachman nystrom Whitney Fiddler.

interesting that is Plano. I guess they can't practice in Frisco due to home offices even though Plano is still a DPSC. I haven't been in there since they reopened. I might have to make it out there tomorrow morning.

The better question is why Adam Richman is with them.

Neal and Fowler practicing in a DPSC? It's like we're in the alternate dimension where the Stars make the right decisions.

Word has it that the employees have this on lockdown now. F. I'm still going to go there in the morning. Apparently they all play golf after practicing too.

I hope they keep the top open, I'll be disappointed if I show up to a paper backed upper lookout. I don't see why they would care too much if we watched.

Interesting from Craig Ludwigs twitter. He wants to have all the nhlers practicing this week to play against the Allen Americans with the proceeds going to charity. I think that would be pretty cool. Doubt it happens but neat if it did. Him and Heika were going back and forth on it.

Idk if this belongs in this thread but I was super bored so I decided to find the trade thread for Richards back in 08 and his first game thread. It seemed like all eyes were on Dallas back in those days. Everyone was freaking out when he racked up those 5 assist in his first game. My, how opinions of Dallas have changed in the last few years. It's kind of depressing, really...

Don't forget how good the team was before we traded for Richards. Richards was ballin' and Morrow was doing his prime-years-alpha male routine. Turco was having one of his best years. Eriksson was giving us a preview of what was to come. Good times...

I still wonder what would've happened if Zubov was 100% for that playoff run. And what would've happened if so many absurd calls hadn't gone against Morrow. Also what if we sent current Jamie Benn back in time to play on a wing? Now Detroit's starting to get worried, I can feel it.

Hey, while I'm fully wallowing in self-pity and bringing everyone else down with me, how about taking a look at what the alt-Stars will look like coming out of the lockout?

Neal-Benn-Eriksson
Whitney-Roy-Ryder
R. Smith-Eakin-Vincour
Morrow-Fiddler-Nystrom

Kulikov-Robidas
Fowler-Daley
Dillon-Larsen

Lehtonen
Bachman

The better question though is why is there even a lockout at all in Fantasyland? It's ruining my enjoyment of the team we don't have.

The last two weeks have been a nightmare for me so I haven't really been in the AHL game day threads (or updating the Euro prospects ... hopefully get to that soon), but speaking of that line ..... how great have they looked in the Texas games?

They were pretty much the only positive thing I could cling to these last 3 games. I expected Eakin to look good, but he looks a step above the other guys out there, IMO. I wish they tracked faceoffs, but based on the eye test he seems to win more than 50% of his draws.

Plus, Smith just hit the ground running. I figure there could be some transition for him, but some nights you could argue he was one of the better players on the ice.

Vincour is doing exactly what I think we all expected. He's not dominating the stats yet, but he clearly dictates the play on the ice. There's not much more we can see from him at the AHL level. It's pretty much wait and see if the switch every comes on in the NHL.

I do hope we see that line in the NHL this year. I think they all have the potential to more than just 3rd liners in the NHL so I'm not saying this is their upside, but I'd be thrilled with that type of checking line for many years to come. I like when Dallas has used offensive minded 3rd lines in the past.
