If it's 52 games, speculation is Dallas could be playing 8 games per division teams.
Speculation for 50 game schedule is only 5 division games per team. 3 games per conference team.
yeah I absolutely prefer a more balanced schedule. Especially since the last few years it seems like the Stars get to play a constant string of games against direct division / playoff rivals in the last 2 months of each season.
They aren't going to have time to get 3 goalies plenty of ice time to get ready for the season. If Nilstorp comes to camp, I think it's so he can get familiar with Dallas and the players, but I doubt he'd play any pre-season minutes. I still believe that Bachman probably doesn't finish the season with Dallas.
Sticking with this guess. Vincour is obviously healthy.
I'll add, even though I don't think they have a chance to make the roster, that I do believe Faksa and and Ritchie could could to camp as well before returning to the OHL. They should be flying back from Russia by now.
Cap sets in in '13-'14, correct? Can't remember this late.
God I'm so excited. This is better than Christmas.
Yes the cap number of $64.3 is for 2013-14 only.
It's reasonable to assume cap will be calculated using the same formula in the next CBA after that year. There's been no discussion in the media about changing the formula.
Off the top of my head ... it's half of hockey related revenue, minus $90 million (I think for pension or something like that), and then divided by 30 teams.
This allows a bit extra time for the NHL product to recover and hopefully not lose major revenue.
The league agreed to hold the lower limit at $44 million despite raising the cap to $64.3 million.
Finally .... variance is known. The greatest variance you can have is 35%, and you can't go below 50% of the highest salary.
For an easy example, let's start with a $10 million salary. The yearly salary can never be below $5 million, and variance can't be more than $3.5 million.
So on a simple 3 year contract in the format above, the player would be paid $10, $6.5, and $5 for a cap hit of $7.17 million.
I want to go to bed so bad ... borderline delirious after all these 3 AM wake ups in a row for WJC .... but details keep coming out.
I'm so excited.
Same here, I was gonna hit the sack at 1 but then the tweets started to come in saying they were getting closer and I figured I'd screw it, stay up 'til it's done.
