Sticking with Ferland again, has nothing but improved every season. I think he basically a lock to be a good physical 3rd/4th liner in the NHL, if he can continue to score at the NHL level then watch out. Could turn out to be a Downie type player.
went with sieloff
dont know what you guys saw from granlund to have him so high in the rankings, but i feel like sieloff is gonna be a good d-man for this team in a few years.
Byron for sure I think he is above Horak and maybe even Nemo
I think Byron's time with Calgary is quickly coming to a close and now probably going to end up a high end AHL player. The Flames have way too many small players now and Byron probably doesn't have the skill set to beat out our currnet small guys. Add in what's in the pipeline, with higher upside, and I see him being moved or unsigned when his contract is up.
Picked Ferland. Flames need his combination of size, grit and skill.
Went with Laurent as I've done the last 3 polls. I feel he is going to be something special, even though our G organizational depth is far better than any other position. Pretty excited to see what Ferland can bring though.

I disagree he has more skill and is a better defensive player than Nemo the only thing he has over Byron is size. Byron loves to hit and his speed is something this team is still lacking.

I would say Ward seems to disagree with you considering all the praise he heaps on Neimsz. I'm also curious who Byron beats out for a position on the Flames? Is he going to beat our Cammalleri or Hudler or Cervenka or Bartschi? Those are our small players. When you add Tanguay and Backlund into the mix, guys who play small, there are too many small, soft players in the lineup. Add in guys like Gaudreau and Granlund, who both have upside in a different stratosphere to Byron, I don't see where he fits. Who does he beat out, knowing that you can't have a team of little guys and get anywhere in the NHL?
I also think we'll find out what the team thinks pretty quickly. He's an RFA and needs to be signed. If he's in the team's plans they will sign him to a longer term deal and likely a one way contract. If he gets a multi-year two-way deal he's likely nothing more than call up fodder. One year two-way contract means he's done.

You're right about him coming along well. I like the Downie comparasion, maybe a mini-Lucic is a good one?

Just announced he signed a one-year two-way deal. Sounds like he's done with the Flames unless he blows people away this year.
