See, I think you do. Almost everything I've done (decisions, etc.) strictly for the money have made me unhappy.

Eventually the thrill of the money wears off, and you're left to deal with your environment/other people/life situations, none of which give could give two ***** about how fat your wallet is.

For instance, is his fiancee's happiness worth $20M? Can someone even put a price tag on that?

Semin is going to be overpaid. I'd stay away.

I'd try to convince Doan to take a one year deal at an exorbitant salary, like $6.0M. Devils will be well under the cap this season and I wouldn't want Doan for more than one year.

When people make comments like that, they do it as someone who doesn't own a 3 million dollar house in multiple states. When you make a lot of money, you live a different lifestyle then the other 99%. Instead of buying a $35,000 car you buy a $200,000 car. It just tends to happen way more often then not. So yes, 10, 20 or even 30 million is a huge difference when your talking about setting up your children abd your children's children in the future.

Liabilities on the ice are something the Devils don't want. See Tedenby.

If Tedenby was able to pot goals they would of dealt with it.

Sorry, I could have written that better. As a team our defense is going to get better as our young guys are progressing and our new prospects are on the cusp of entering the NHL regardless of if we keep Zach.

Captain UFA makes his decision on America's Birthday?

Semin wants to get paid like Parise, so if that's the case, I don't want him anywhere near our team.

I would love for us to get Shane Doan if he does hit the market. We actually need a right winger and his game is made for the post season. I'd take a flyer on him anytime.

Ooooooh yea. He is the consolation prize in all of this for the teams that don't want to give up the pieces for Nash or Ryan.

Any interest in Kyle Wellwood? I know we've got plenty of centers, but he did just put up 47 pts.

True. It sucks that he didn't take advantage. This training camp is big for him.

Regarding "If Zach really wanted to stay here he would have signed"

-If Zach just wanted the $ he would have signed in Philly or Pittsburgh already. If he just wanted to be home he would have signed in Minnesota already. I guess we really have no idea what's going on with him.

-No one is going to sign Semin to a retirement contract because of his previous salary and the reservations about his motivation. I would give Doan and Semin each a two year deal. Doan at 4.5 and Semin at 6.5. The Devils have the cap space and honestly probably the real dollars as well considering the signing bonus/salary craziness that Parise is going to command.

Say Zach leaves and Lou does nothing. We're in trouble.

Or you can PRAY Tedenby got his act together... or sign Sykora who was a playoff healthy scratch for most of the time and provides no speed and is a year older.

The Devils forward depth in Albany is downright embarrassing... Lou is doing the best he can to sign Parise which is good... but if things don't go our way, he has to act fast.

Your such a tease Zach.
Gah, that is irritating. Here we have media types assuring that it would be today, and still nothing from Parise.

Tedenby's problem is his confidence in his shot, not necessarily his defensive deficiencies.

Eventually the thrill of the money wears off, and you're left to deal with your environment/other people/life situations, none of which give could give two ***** about how fat your wallet is.

For instance, is his fiancee's happiness worth $20M? Can someone even put a price tag on that?
Me too...But if I knew I only had to do it for 10 years when I was 27 the scenario changes drastically...

Most people hit the prime of their career in their 40's, an athlete will probably have been retired for 5 years by then. Life situations aren't that important in a short time frame...It's almost like choosing a college. Better program? Better environment/campus? When itís all done who cares about the campus? It is a tiny time frame and what you take out of it is far more important than what your comfort level was while you were there.
