If they're trying to add Nash, I wouldn't be so certain. I assume they'll have to use futures to land him and they may want to restock.

I think so too. Probably worth asking now then waiting to see what happens with Nash.

I thought it would have been like the trade deadline or previous July 1st. Multiple signings and trades were happening like crazy. The way Darcy and media were talking, I thought it would have been a frenzy right now.

Semin and Carle will sign with the Red Wings now. They have to act now or it could be too late.

what about the 2011-12 devils? Panthers?

Minny is a playoff roster... easily.
Phoenix yes. Dave Tippet is a playoffs friendly coach, just like Trotz is. Those two coaches could take an AHL team to the playoffs with their style of play. They're also typically first round and out teams because of that style.

The Devils? The team that had the guy that Minnesota just signed? Plus Kovalchuk, plus a slightly better defense, plus an easier conference?

The Panthers have much easier competition and a similar roster of journeymen. Coaching goes a long way into molding marginal talent into a playoff team.

What's the obsession with Dubinsky? He has been crap for years. He's a 15 goal scorer that acts like a turd on the ice and is a whiny brat off the ice. We just got rid of one of those.

Down Goes Brown @DownGoesBrown

Just for fun, here are all the 27-year-old players from 13 seasons ago: http://www.hockey-reference.com/play...l=&order_by=ps

Combined goals last season: zero.

Obsession?

He's a physical top six center with size and he's versatile. He had a down year offensively but was a 20-goal scorer the two seasons prior to this one. He's a good puck possession player and would be a nice addition.

He's big, physical, plays a two way game, and can move to LW once Grigorenko is ready.

Cheap in terms of assets too.

He is signed to three more years though.

Our 13-14 forwards would look something like this with Grigorenko in:

Vanek-Hodgson-Pominville
Dubinsky-Grigorenko-Armia
Foligno-Ennis-Stafford
Leino-Ott-Kaleta/Gerbe

If Armia starts in the AHL, shuffle lines around. Girgensons would probably either spend a second year in college or start in the AHL. OR other moves would need to be made to open spots.

Ideally, we'd want a Dubinsky type with one, maybe two years left on his deal.

Years 4-8: $9 million base
Year 9: $8 million base
Year 10: $6 million base

GMillerTSN What's interesting about the Parise and Suter contracts is that they both drop off sharply in the final years to bring the cap number down.

It's the 1M years at the end that make it look so bad. If it bottomed at 3M or something, it wouldn't seem so circumventing.

Did the contracts get approved or may we hear something tonight about them? Wouldn't be the first contract to get "signed" and have the NHL say 'wait a minute' just a few hours later.

So you think minny has a ****** coach?

So it's not about roster now, it's about coaches?

Interesting since that coach led them to best record in the league at the 30 game mark...

So in all honesty it's a 10 year/ 94 million dollar deal... Fine the Wild 2 1sts, that's even worse then the Ehrhoff deal.

What's really interesting is they fell of a cliff pretty much right when PM Bouchard got hurt...he was the straw that stirred the drink.

Whooooaaaaa 30 games.

I think Phoenix had as good of a team on paper as Minnesota does. Minnesota's defense is terrible even with Suter.

Won't even be close if Doan leaves. Wild still look like they have the better team even with Doan.
