upgrade yes, not much though. Not worth giving up the assets for if that's what you're asking.

That's what I'm thinking. Not really worth making a deal, and he is pretty small, even smaller than Bozak.

Let's hope he can do what he needs and lands that 1C and veteran keeper.

Everyone's a winner in July and August, with public apologies in April.

How about this for a shocker.... Kopitar! With Carter and Richards in LA, perhaps they're contemplating moving Anze??

No one would think he'd be available, but if the Kings were to get a Parise, or a Nash, then maybe they would look to move out Kopitar??

First answer no. Second answer hell no. Kopitar is a complete untouchable.

I think he is a huge upgrade over Bozak simply because of a much greater upside. He will be moved from Edmonton because he is small and they need size with the other top 6 guys. Too small for TO to tag team with a little guy like Grabo though.

I live in Edmonton and am unaware of any off ice concerns. Maybe everybody here is to wrapped up in lynching the management (before Schults of course). What have you heard?

If there are guys who are surprisingly available Marleau or Thornton might be the ones referred to.

There aren't any teams in cap trouble.

Flames have the green light to put NHL contracts in the minors.

In saying that moving JayBow eliminates a big contract. Some teams low in the Cap could be interested.

San Jose would have no problem moving Marleau, so that would give them relief, even though they don't really need it.

Savard and Thomas will be off the Bruins cap.

Maybe more wishful thinking than reality about pillaging a cap team.

Just what I was about to post.

He said it is realistic that he will be able to upgrade at the centre and goaltending positions, not trade for a #1C and #1G. These two combined trades would likely strip the rest of the team, opening up other major holes.

Just for all the people prematurely predicting Ty Bo's demise, it is entirely possible he will be the second line center. Grabovski is worth more in trade and you will need to give up somebody to get a first line center. If Bozak is traded it means the other team has a second line center that can step up to 1st. Then Bozak would be their second line center.I am thinking the other team would want Grabovski in the second center spot.

Unfortunately, Nope.

For those that missed the interview.

The goaltender position remains a big priority for Burke as he would prefer to add a veteran and let the Leafs' young netminders such as James Reimer and Ben Scrivens develop at their own pace.

All I know is that if we were strictly talking about trading excess. the package for any upgrade would be something along there lines...

Connolly/Bozak
MacArthur/Kadri
Defensive prospect (Blacker?)

Now, I know we're ALL getting excited to hear burke talk about acquiring a number 1 centre, but, the reality of it is that he's been trying to get one since the day he became GM. Until he actually delivers, saying that he is talking to other GM's and that there is a lot of chatter is utterly pointless to us until something happens.

Additionally, if I remember correctly, the reason we paid Connolly 4.75 million a year is because he'd be the stop gap de-facto number 1 centre. I know a lot of people (Including me) were excited when he signed here because he'd be an upgrade over what we had, and his term was quite short. I hope we all remember that when he started playing for us, he played VERY well in-between Lupul and Kessel, so, perhaps, he can bounce back this year if the ever talked about "Number 1 centre" doesn't come here.

With all that said, my "Realistic" dream would be to have something like this...

Lupul - Wilson - Kessel
JVR - Grabo - Frattin/Kulemin
Kadri/Mac - McClement - Frattin/Kulemin
Komarov - Stecks - Brown

Gunnarsson - Phaneuf
Gardiner - Holzer
Liles - Komi/Franson

Backstrom
Reimer

Granted, there would be no guarantee a lot of these guys would be on the roster due to the hypothetical trades for Wilson and Backstrom.

Ive said it before, and Ill say it again.

Minny is trying to get both parise and suter. If they dont, They are gunna be another terrible team.

I want to see Toronto make a serious run at Koivu and Backstrom together in a package.

We have lots of youth that could accelerate Minnys rebuild, and im sure that we could give them an acceptable package. If we are getting both a #1 center and a #1 goaltender, I would certainly be happy to give up the 2013 pick. Kadri+Bozak+Kulemin/MacArthur(pref)+Connoly(cap)+2013 first?

If we are upgrading on C position. My guess is we're going after someone like Statsny or Krejci due to both Colarado and Boston's depth at C position. However, there could be other option out there as well that we haven't heard before.
