If Pyatt is playing long stretches on the 3rd line, we haven't solved anything from last season.

Love the signing. VERY good addition to our bottom six.

As it stands now:

Dubinsky-Anisimov-Pyatt
Rupp-X-Asham

Tippet trusts Pyatt against teams 2nd lines, but his possession numbers were brutal. I expect the team to be heavily outshot when he is on the ice.

He's frolicking around his living room while you're changing your damn name again.

We still need a legitimate 3rd liner.

$2.5MM might have been too much for Prust but we've now spent $2.55MM for Asham and Pyatt who still can't do everything Prust did.

...and yes, I'm being petty. Wake me when we do something to improve the team.

Best looking team in the league.

Though the chick is ruining my view of Pyatt.

IMO, this makes Hagelin very available for a deal for Nash.

That was his fiance, I believe his mom and fiance got killed in a car crash. I remember reading it on NHL.com, I'm not sure if it was Pyatt or another Canuck player.

His job is to go out there, play with the puck in the offensive zone, not be a defensive liability and get off the ice.
He's a season removed from 18 goals. Mitchell has 25 for his career. How is this not a significant upgrade?

Finally a signing I like!

Really solid addition to the bottom 6. Solid speed for his size.

I'm rewatching the game where the Coyotes came to The Garden this season.

I didn't say it wasn't an upgrade, but rather a replacement. Replacements can be upgrades.

And by the way, that 18 goal season was with a shooting percentage 40% higher than his career average, including that season. It's best not to count on significant statistical aberrations when projecting what a player is capable of.

Great point. This is precisely why you don't go above $2M for fourth liners. Unless you have a fourth line center who's killer on face offs and plays great defense. That's worth a little more, but still not the $2.5M Prust got. No hard feelings against Pruster though. Hope he kicks ass for Montreal.

Argh, I was going to make a Boyle joke.

Anyway, I'm very happy about this signing. Bottom 6 was in need of some help.

73 games, 9 goals, 10 assists, 19 points.
77 games, 10 goals, 24 assists, 34 points.

1.55 million
4.2 million

Safe to say the people that hate this signing are the same that want Dubinsky shipped out of town.

With the departure of Prust, Pyatt is probably the best available player we could get for our bottom six.

What on Earth are you talking about? Pyatt can provide offense in the bottom six, which is something Prust is completely incapable of doing.

It's tough, the Rangers won 9 of their last 10 and the GAS line is going strong. Gaborik has 8 goals in 9 games. These guys are insane.

Really don't know what some people expect. Their comments seem to me a mix between childishness and ignorance. It's like spme people don't know anyone but the big names.

Apart from Parise and Semin there are no potential big time goal scorers in this UFA season. Parise has made it plain that he doesn't want to play for us and Semin is a head case. The only alternative is to give Howson whatever he wants for Nash or send multi players (including our 2nd line center) to Anaheim for Ryan.

It's not a good market for goal scorers at the moment--so give it a ****ing rest. We still have holes to fill. Pyatt should fit pretty well into the bottom 6 mix. The contract is not out of line. He's a veteran player with size. He's always had good wheels.
